I think you will find that the article about the Samoan not needing a work visa probably fails to elaborate on the reason why he doesn't need a visa and would have nothing to do with him being Samoan.

I'm guessing that the player was entitled to either an ancestry visa or British passport because of a parent or parent place of birth, which the article failed to elaborate.

No dude. Pou was correct above.

In rugby league and rugby union, the Kolpak ruling has allowed teams to sign many players from Fiji, Tonga and Samoa, all of which are also ACP countries. Many rugby union clubs have also signed South African players under Kolpak. In a related issue, New Zealand legend Andrew Mehrtens, who was born in Durban, decided to pursue a South African passport when he signed with the English side Harlequins for the 2005?06 National Division One season, as it would enable the club to sign another non-EU and non-Kolpak player.

This is why Willie Mason sourced a Tongan passport while at Hull KR so as not to impact on the club's quota of foreigners.

Sonny Bill played for Toulon under a Samoan passport.
Fears of a mass footballing exodus to the northern hemisphere have been partially allayed with the European Union this month moving to limit the number of Kolpak players allowed in its sporting competitions.
Athletes such as Sonny Bill Williams are considered local players in England and Europe, and are therefore exempt from restrictions placed on foreigners. That status was made possible by Maros Kolpak, a Slovakian handball player, who in 2003 convinced the European Court of Justice that athletes from countries within the EU and their associate trading partners should be allowed to work freely anywhere in the zone.
The ruling has had a major impact on County cricket and European rugby, with players from countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa flocking to join lucrative domestic leagues without transgressing limitations placed on overseas athletes. Williams is attempting to play for French club Toulon as a Kolpak player, having obtained a Samoan passport

At the start of the year I thought Sio was the best winger at the club and that Radradra and Toutai would be fighting for the other spot. Turns out I was wrong again, so who I would pick is irrelevant.

But given our lack of go-forward, I think Vai Toutai is a better fit on the wing for the team as it is. I trust the coach's judgement better than my own.

I don't think it's irrelevant. I think it adds to interesting discussion about football.

We can have interesting discussions about football without saying "I would/the coach should do this..."

I can see the pros and cons of Sio vs Toutai without knowing which one the coach should or will pick in any given week.

Fair enough. I like Toutai. I think Sio is limited in his ability and probably won't get much better than he already is. Toutai has more pace, is stronger, and only needs to improve his ball-handling and positional play to become a superior player to Sio. Having said that, I would select Sio this weekend.

Sio is probably the safer option. Toutai will probably get more practice scoring tries at Wenty anyway.

Yes. And I think that's what we need right now. We really need to win tomorrow night. The game against the Knights was crucial, and we lost it. I'd go so far as to say that tomorrow night's game is now the most important one of the season for the Eels. If we win, we could make the six.
If we lose, I think the year is over for us. I think we'll win.
