Goodall is a late inclusion in the NYC. Obviously not so late because he's on the Gold Coast rather than the south coast.

Could mean one of the centres named in first grade is playing for Wenty today.

Didn't Wenty do the same thing last week with Goodall? Maybe they'll promote someone from the Wenty bench again, rather than it being an indicator for first grade changes.

*Or given Gold's post, maybe Sio will end up taking Toutai's first grade spot after all?

Interesting that Tonga is the one out for Hoppa. I'm not sure I can see Morgan or Hoppa stopping Dave Taylor out wide?

Great to have Mannah back in, but apart from Junior Paulo our bench looks weak... I'd assume Gower has to factor into the prop rotation, since Pauli, Smith and Joseph Paulo are all backrowers. We just look to be one big forward short for this match....?

For tonight, perhaps it's Smith's sole duty to be the one who tries to stop Dave Taylor out wide... Defence is Smith's strength, and given Tonga's absence perhaps this is why Smith retained his spot in the 17 ahead of Terepo?

Likewise I can't see Taylor keeping up with either of those two. They'll get past him all day.

But I suspect Brad Takairangi will defend at left centre with Taylor defending three in.

You only need one legitimate prop on the field at any given time. We'll start with two (Mannah/Moimoi) but when they come off it'll just be Junior Paulo. The other middle forward will be Ben Smith, who played all his minutes in the middle last week. Obviously there's Gower and Joe Paulo too but neither is a genuine front rower.

We make plenty of metres on the edges anyway, especially when Pauli comes on.

If he was in the team purely to defend on one edge he would be starting.
