A few weeks ago in Origin 2, Hayne jumps into the crowd and celebrates with them first, everyone loved that shit. He does it now however, and he should have gone and celebrated with the team?

He did it right in front of me tackling dave Taylor early in the game. He did a few arm grabs throughout the rest of the game.

He was carrying his shoulder exactly the same as he did in origin. The arm would stay by his side when he was jogging back into the line.
Was probably needled up to get on the field in the first place, returning early to fill in for an absent Tonga?

Since it was a must-win game for our finals chances, assuming Tonga is back next week then the gamble (despite the set back of further weeks off for Hoppa) probably paid off - and was preferable than the alternative of somehow having to endure Toutai on the field?

Did anyone else notice Dave Taylor chuck a sneaky little fore arm into the back of Hayne's head after his first try?

I was ambivalent about it at the time, and I was glad to see him tear up soon after. I think Hayne is possibly the best player in the NRL, and maybe the best player to have ever played the game. In with a shout, anyway. But when I see a player run to the crowd like that to celebrate, ignoring his team-mates, I'm reminded of the report I read about that suggested that when a player's first instinct is to celebrate with his team-mates, not the crowd, the chance of future success is greater. That is all.

I'm not criticising the guy. I wouldn't blame him for letting all the press go to his head. But I think it would be better for us if he remained more humble.

I thought it was interesting that we targeted Dave Taylor early on, but with Minichiello/Bird and Takairangi on his inside we really struggled to get at him. Of course we made two linebreaks for tries on that side.

When we went left (Carter, Mortimer and Roberts) there were plenty of metres to be had.

Maybe it's a genius move by Cartwright, or Henry, or whoever. Surround a slightly weak defender with strong defenders in order to get the opposition to target that side, completely ignoring the overall weaker side of the field. Meanwhile, Taylor is still free to wreak havoc in attack.

Just got back from a party. I don't want people to think I just post when we lose. My thoughts:

* Hayne is the best player in the world however he frustrated the shit out of me in the first half. Not many players could have scored that try maybe Inglis but that's about it.

* Our halves were great. Best game they have had for us in weeks.

* Sandow's short kicking game was sublime. He looked more patient out there. Arthur must be getting my text messages. ;-)

* Kenny Edwards had a great game. I am so happy that we have unearthed a player like him at his price.

* I wish Tepai connected with Bird properly when he lined him up. It could have been the making of a new Tooheys commercial.

* Moimoi had his best game this year and Mannah proved why he is vital to our side. Nobody ever gets him on his back when he takes the ball up.

* Degois is playing very well, wise move in signing him.

* Seriously how fast is James Roberts?? Never seen something like that in years. Would love him on the wing for Parra.

* Hopoate is all class and a must re-signing.

* Semi needs to step up and Sio is a class act out wide. Cannot believe we are letting him go.

And strider (and everyone else who mentioned Hopoate probably hurt his shoulder) - I think you're right.

Check out the "Magic Moments" highlight on the NRL website. It's the replay of Hayne's first try. After he makes the break, you can see Hopoate in the background trying to support Hayne, and while his left arm is pumping as he runs, his right arm is more or less hanging limply by his side.

Well we were all hard on Vai last week , me included but no one has really given it to semi for his performance last night. He had a bit of a shocker, bombed that try, dropped that bomb and let Roberts get around him

Was it Semi that also passed the ball behind Hayne early in the second half with the line wide open? In any case it's a game he'd probably prefer to forget.

Hoppa was supporting his arm a lot last night. We kept our eye on him in back play and were surprised how he managed to stay on the field and keep contributing. Even wounded he had a fantastic game. I hope he recovers well for next week.
