Taking my son to his first NRL game and he's got all the gear to wear. Regardless of the result, special occasion as we all probably remember our first Parra game. See you in the supporters bay. :D

You can probably sit wherever you want - looks like there hasn't been anyone at the last few GC games anyway.

Mine was 1964 or 65. Wandered up to Cumberland after school, Marist Brothers, l to watch a match postponed from the weekend because of wet weather. I remember Moby Dick Thornett had a blinder.

Last year our season was over after 4 games when the coaching staff just gave up

Nah - last year was pretty good. We didn't hit last spot until round 13.

The year before we got in the groove early, hit last spot in round 2 and never got out of it again.

My first game was Cumberland Oval March 29 1981, against Newtown (ultimately the team we played in the GF). B Kenny scored a double and became my favourite player, surpassing G Dowling in my estimations.

I had been to the 79 GF previously, and a couple of other random games that my family took me to, but the game above was my first Eels match. A bloke who later went on to rob my grandfather at knifepoint was playing for the Jets (or maybe he'd recently done it and was allowed out to play footy).

PS. Maybe this was the 2nd game, as I think I saw Kenny play one game in 1980....sure it was against Newtown once more.

My first game was probably spent at the back of the ground down the grassy hill and around the light towers, mucking around with other kids who also didn't give a crap about footy.

That is not as far fetched as it sounds

If those boys have the same lactic acid tolerance as their dad and they play league for the eels at the same time, the dragons 11 consecutive premierships is under threat don't worry about that
