On the back of polling two points from the game on Monday night, Tim Mannah has taken first place from the reach of Jarryd Hayne and secured the title of League Unlimited's Eels Player of the Year with a game to spare in the 2013 season.

It has been an extremely difficult year for Tim on and off the field. I can't say that our award is the most prestigious among all of the gongs in the NRL but it is a testament to Tim's character and his drive to lead the way for our ragged resemblance of a NRL team in every week of the season. His tireless efforts despite our standings and commitment to putting in for every set have earned our collective acknowledgment.

Congratulations Tim, if anyone deserves a fairer 2014 it is certainly you.
