Reading returned to the English Premier League after securing automatic promotion with a 1-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
Mikele Leigertwood's goal from an Ian Harte free-kick nine minutes from time was the only goal of the game at the Madejski Stadium.
But that was enough to take the Royals back to the top flight for the first time since 2008, with the players swamped by joyful Reading fans who swarmed onto the pitch at the final whistle.
With only the top two sides guaranteed promotion, victory gave Championship leaders Reading an unbeatable eight-point lead over third-placed West Ham, with only a maximum of six on offer to the Hammers from their final two regular season league gam
.

:D :D :D :D :D

I know Championship doesn't get much of a run here but I am absolutely over the f**king moon right now! tThe run we put on to get to here is amazing, 15 wins from 17, including our last 6 on the trot, Brian McDermott is an absolute God and deserves all the credit he'll get for guiding the boys back up. f**king pumped! Tonight will be fun!

Even better, Leeds are out of it. Of the other teams in contention, I'd love to see Cardiff City go up. They've been close on a couple of occasions in recent times. Cardiff vs Swansea in the PL would be great to see. Lower down, there's a reasonable chance both Sheffield teams could come up to the Championship together.

Southampton look as good as promoted too, will be good to see them back.

Now for West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool and Cardiff to slug it out... Anyone but Birmingham, can't stand them!

Edit; Can't believe Portsmouth, in under two years have gone from an FA Cup final to playing in the third-tier of English Football!!!

Nah, if they go back up and last that first year that might be a different story :)

Interesting. If West Ham win 3-0 and Southampton draw 1-1 tomorrow, both teams will be on 86 points and will have scored 82 goals and conceded 47.

What happens then? Three-legged sack race?

It's hard to imagine Southampton will throw it away at home against Coventry.

Here's hoping though :)

Southampton have done it easy. Barring a miracle from Middlesborough and a choke from Cardiff, it'll be Wet Sham against Cardiff City and Birmingham against Blackpool.

Glad to see the hammers back, I hope they can stick around for a few years. I see Vaz Te scored the winner, he played a season for my team here in Greece a few years ago, it's a shame we let him (though i can't remember if it was a loan or a buy)... quality player...
