Recomend a good finger picking song to learn.

All this guitar talk of late has me ready to learn a new tune which I havent had time to do in a while and end up playing the same old crap or keep noting ideas for songs I never finish!

Im not necessarily looking for something to push the boundaries just something thats cool to play along the lines of 'nothing else matters - metallica', 'stairway - led zep' or 'tears in heaven - clapton'.

Anyone got a good idea for me?

Stairway to Heaven lol that is ideal for what you need.

Seriously a song i've always loved playing on the guitar well acoustic anyway is Paitence by Gunners, awesome to play when chilling, Dead or alive by Bon Jovi is also unreal to play too.

I remember learning patience's solo when I took guitar lessons, it has a nice little one..dunno how good it is for finger picking though.

Sultans of swing by Dire straits was a good one to learn for finger picking/plucking.

nah the solo probably wouldn't be what he needs, in the intro maybe? but the solo is pretty much a sh*tload of hammer-ons and scales.

Already know patience and its a great one to sing and play to (if you dont have to hear me sing!!), although I dont fingerpick that one. Sultans and Stairway are under the belt also.

Thanks for the suggestions, I actually found some tab for the bohemian rhapsody, am gonna give it a try along with the floyd song.

classical gas....hmm im sure ive got that in one of my books.

Jessica by the Allamn Brothers, dont know this one will have to find it for a listen.

Don't worry about Jessica since I didn't read the thread title properley.

You could attempt to finger pick though.

Think so, it's a lot of fun to play but you probably need to use a pick.

EDIT: The Top Gear theme is a pretty heavily butchered version.

hey Simo,

a couple of others sprang to mind while i was playing on the weekend:

Blackbird (the Beatles) - great song to play
Tears in Heaven - plenty of people can play this but ive never met a girl who doesn't love it!
Blue moon - fun to play.

I've seen someone do Dueling Banjoes (both parts) on the one guitar. It was damn fast by the end - that should give your fingers a workout

2 songs not mentioned that I actually bother to put the pick away is A Perfect Circle's '3 Libras', and the Chili Peppers' 'Scar Tissue'. Both easy as.
