Reddy into the backrow

When I got home Saturday night after watching the Parra game, I watched the game again on TV and I heard one of the commentators not sure which one but they mentioned Anderson was looking at putting him into the backrow for 2010 to make way for Tahu, did anyone else notice this? what do you think about it? I much prefer him where he is now his great in defense and in th opposition 20 can really attack that line.

I think Inu is more suited to the second row, anyways. He has become more aggressive over the last month or so but still isn't playing as a line breaking centre. It seems he can handle a bit more aggro, getting smashed a bit more and hitting people harder and more often.

I actually think the that player who will make way will find himself on the bench as an impact player. I think player like grothe can really do some damage 10 minutes short of half time.

I think Burt would play great off the bench, play that similar utility role much like Craig Wing

I would also think Burt to play off the bench as a utility next year. We've got enough flexibility between forwards and backs to allow him to play a bit of 5'8th or wing without disrupting the structure of the side. Inu couldn't carry the workload of a backrower.

No-one is suggesting "dropping" Burt. Just out of our current backline players he's the best suited to a utility role, and as we've no firm proven utility player signed for next season he could easily fill in that role. He's got that spark and strong kicking game where he could slip into the side at 5'8th in attack with KK to go hooker when his brother needs a rest. Or he could slip into the centres with Reddy going to 5'8th.

They said he had the size and pedigree to play in the back row, although I dont know what pedigree has to do with anything.

It may not be a bad move as some one has to go and at 21 I dont think Inu has shown us his best form yet, where as I'm not sure Joel can get any better, he's a very reliable player but I dont think he has the flair of Inu and if Inu can strike some form similar to Hayne, we's have a pretty awesome backline.

One thing is for sure, Tahu will have a few injuries as he normally does, so we'll need depth.

I've been thinking this through, and I agree.

When you look at who might make way in the backline, you have all but one play capable of playing two positions competently:

Hayne - fullback, wing
Burt - wing, fullback
Tahu - centre, wing
Reddy - centre, wing (& fullback perhaps)
Grothe - wing
Inu - wing, centre (& fullback perhaps)

Ben Smith currently comes on as a defensive second rower who also partners the centre and winger... with the players we've signed I think we might see Eric come on from the bench in 2010 into the back row add some attacking impact, as well as do his bit in front on defence.
