Reds slay Sydney Bulls in courageous trial winThe WA Reds did themselves and their supporters proud in a come from behind win against 2007 Grand Finalists, Sydney Bulls tonight at North Beach.
Despite finding themselves down 12 nil after 20 minutes the Reds held together in defence and attack and toughed their way back into the game to go to the break 12 - 18 but showing promising signs.
In the second half the Reds uped their game another cog and the Bulls early season fitness began to let them down allowing the Reds to finish over the top for a great win.
The game was played in great spirit and the North Beach Club worked with the WARL to present the venue superbly.
"As we head toward the season proper, tonight's win gives us a huge injection of credibility and we are confident this will result in another surge of fans coming on board as Reds members, WARL and Reds Chairman Geoff Baldwin said after the game.
"It has been a long hard grind to get us to this point and it is critical to our future that every Rugby League supporter in WA now gets behind the Reds, he said.
The WA Reds will play another trial at North Beach next weekend against Queensland Cup Club, Souths Logan. The Qld Cup is a very tough competition and if the Reds are able to put up a competitive showing against the QLD side it will stand them in good stead as they head into the Jim Beam Cup competiion rounds.
