Reds win!

Tonight, the WA Reds played their first pre-season game against last year's Jim Beam Cup grand finalist the Sydney Bulls and came away with a 32-22 win! It started to get a bit heated there towards the end, and I'd say that tonight's Bulls team wasn't their strongest team they could've played, but it was great to see the WA Reds win their first ever game.

Good onya Reds!

If I (or someone else) come across a review of the game in either the Sunday Times or West Australian newspapers over the next few days, I'm sure they'll be posted here.

The next trial match is against Queensland Cup side Souths Logan on March 15th (I think) at Charles Riley Reserve, North Beach.

Nope. Former Western Reds players Matt Fuller (strength & conditioning ... or something like that) and Chris Dever (head coach) are the only ones I know of.

Good game, good crowd and a great start!

Was a bit worried when i saw the size of their forwards but our speed and footwork did the trick and they looked a lot more tired towards the end then we did. Being reduced to 12 won't have helped!

Thought the atmosphere was great and the crowd of ?6-700 really got into it to lift the team in the last 20minutes.

They didn't get reduced. I counted numerous times. Once that Bulls player was sent off, they replaced him ... there was 13 players out there at all times. Perhaps they could do it because it was officially a trial match?

I was going to take some photos, but only after I'd left the house did I remember I was going to do so ... thus I had no camera to take said photos. Sorry!

I had my hands full with Tshirts, caps, posters and stickers so the camera stayed in the pocket!

Maybe this week.

There was a stall at the game. I ordered my jersey there. They're only selling the red ones at this stage, which is a shame because I would have preferred to get the silver one.

If you're in town this weekend, I'd say the stall will be there for this coming game too.

yeh, they had tshirts and caps for sale on the night (Tshirts had all but sold out before kick off!) and you could order polo and home shirts. Stickers and posters were free!

Crowd is hard to say but I would guesstimate between 6-700 but could have been 150 more or less than that. It was packed with all the seating areas taken up and the bar was doing a good trade, especially at those prices which were the cheapest I've bought a beer for in a long time! I don't expect the same can be said at MES.
