Redskins Cowboys game

This is my take on the game.
The Redskins OL played real well and this was one of the keys to beating the Cowboys. Jason Campbell did get sacked a couple of times but apart from that he played well. The Cowboys couldn’t enough pressure with 3 down linemen and 1 LB so they had to bring 2 LB’s or a safety as well and the Redskins then used a lot of 3 WR sets. This allowed 1 on 1 with either a LB on a WR or a safety moving up. Clinton Portis was then able to run the ball and the Skins could control the clock. Instead of running the ball to set up the pass the Skins used the West Coast short passing game to set up the run. This showed that the Cowboys looked very suspect against the short pass and I couldn’t understand why the CB’s were playing so far off the line of scrimmage? The next thing was why did the Cowboys completely give up on the run? Romo passed nearly on every play, even if the run isn’t working you at least have to keep the defence honest and run a few more running plays,to at least keep playaction in the book.

i also think the cowboys should have run a bit more, they should learn from this and their defence should get better.

Thanks for the description, nice! Was a suprise to see Dallas go down at home, that NFC East is a monster of a division this season!!

the NFC East is no doubt the toughest division in the NFL leaps and bounds from any other team imo.

Ask the owner why they dont run the ball more.

Barber and Jones are studs. Their line is set up to run the ball (big uglies everywhere) though the Skins LB corps of Fletcher-Baker, Washington and McIntosh is one of the best around. Add Landry at Safety and the emergence of Chris Horton we are a tough team to run against if Griffin and Montgomery can play their gaps well.

Shows pre-season means nothing IMO.

Terrell Owens Is Concerned About How Tony Romo Throws Him the Ball

Apparently Terrell Owens is unhappy. This comes as something of a surprise since the soft-spoken wide receiver is often seen and not heard, letting his on-field performance do his talking. Actually, it's exactly the opposite, particularly if Owens isn't -- in his mind, anyway -- getting enough touches to carry the ol' ball team to victory.

He's been relatively content in Dallas, primarily because the Cowboys win, and quarterback Tony Romo finds a way to keep T.O. happy. Well, even that wasn't enough during Sunday's game against the Redskins.

And today, the Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins writes that Mr. Owens had a little talk with Romo in the locker room following the 26-24 loss to Washington.
Owens, despite having 18 passes thrown his way in the loss to Washington, had what was deemed a serious conversation about the offense with quarterback Tony Romo after the game, according to multiple sources.

The types of routes and throws are what concerns Owens, the sources said. The receiver, who the sources said was venting to Romo about his frustrations, has not liked how some of the throws were coming from the quarterback as far back as the season opener.

But Owens said Sunday he is still confident in Romo.
Well, that last sentence makes everything okay then, I guess. Last week, Jason Witten explained how Romo dealt with Owens' in-huddle demands for the ball: he ignores him. I suspect that's a little tougher when he's right in your grill in the locker room.

I know Owens has impressive credentials when it comes to dividing a team, but I'm not sure if that's the case here. The guy's always bellyaching about getting more involved -- that's his thing; if the Cowboys win, he'll be fine, if they don't, we'll all hear about it.

Plus, let's not forget, T.O. has matured as a player; this is the same dude who couldn't stop blubbering at the thought of the media blaming last year's playoff loss on his quarterback.

Donovan, sadly, never got that kinda support.

They had no choice but abandon the run as they were playing catchup on the scoreboard from the second quarter

This year's NFC East will rival the AFC West of '03 I think it was, when the worst record was 8-8 from the Chiefs. I'm predicting The Giants to go 12-4 this year as well as the Cowboys to go 11-5 and Redskins and Eagles to finish up on 10-6 or 9-7. The Redskins have a real good 3 pronged attack with Campbell, Moss and Portis. Portis should rack up around 1300 rushing yards this year and that will put them on the front foot with their passing game.
