looks awful & unprofessional
t shirts hanging out of their shorts , just a grubby tacky look that doesn't suit a multi million dollar professional sport

It was difficult to tell the refs apart from the roosters last night tbh.

Except they were trials and not one of them being held was either multi-million dollar, nor professional?

Who gives a f**k what they're wearing in pre-season games?

It was weird. With the bright fluro colours it's clear cut where the refs are. The gray almost has them interfering with some of the teams. Tldr, don't like it, looks rubbish.

the OP is onto something. The games needs to be more professional. Hopefully the NRL sharpens up and instructs players to tuck their shirts in during matches

I agree. This is easily the biggest issue in the NRL at the moment...maybe even world sport....how dare they besmirch the professional reputation of our faultless and industry leading referees by having them wear slightly different clothing! Do they not understand that the appearance of the referees in the 14 second grabs of trial matches that no doubt headline sports reports in the US, UK, China, and Europe make us look like a regional footy comp rather than the international behemoth we really are?

Greenburg should resign immediately over this...let's get a petition going!

The shirts didn't bother me, but I saw highlights of a trial last week and they were wearing short socks.
Not a big deal but thought it looked a bit funny.

They did a sponsorship deal with youi and the new on field kits weren't ready yet so they had to wear the training shirt.
That would make sense apart from the fact they wore them in the 2nd half of some matches, and all of the Charity Shield and All Stars.

You're aware that many clubs either recycle their Nines kit or wear a training strip in pre-season games too? Are we gonna take aim at them as well?

Perhaps they only had a limited number & used them for games that were televised?

The NRL last night explained the referees wore training jumpers — not traditional jerseys — with new sponsor Youi on the front, because the new uniforms weren’t ready.

The sponsorship announcement with Youi was only completed last week.

The NRL said the traditional coloured jumpers would be worn by referees in premiership matches this season.

An NRL spokesman confirmed officials had been using “training kit following the beginning of a new commercial partnership with Youi last week, and the regulation game kit would be worn in premiership matches.”

Referees wore traditional yellow jumpers in Sunday’s Charity Shield match between South Sydney and St George Illawarra at ANZ Stadium.
