Reg Reagan, Jersey Flegg sideline commentator?

What the hell is this crap. Sorry but I can't stand Reg Reagan, I don't find him remotely funny. Why are Channel 9 having this idiot being their sideline commentator for Jersey Flegg? Surely there's someone better out there than him?

I'm gobsmacked that they would cheapen a grand final (albeit JF) by having a caricature/spoof call the match.

It cheapens the game - how good are the players going to feel, or the families when they watch the recorded or live match ?

BTW, I get and appreciate Reg humour, just don't think it's suitable for calling matches on mainstream. Just because Roy and HG get away with it, remember it's JJJ, not the people that bring you the footy show (low common denominator).

Would the AFL or Union do it ?

maybe afl and union should do it...might keep their viewers from falling asleep.

i recon it will be funny...and great to watch.

A lot of ppl I know don't watch JF but will watch the big game.

Casual viewers might tune into the game just to hear Reg Reagan.
I can see both sides of the arguement :S

It's Jersey Flegg - who really cares? It's nothing more than glorified pre-match entertainment. The only people who care about it are the players and the coaches (and that's fair enough) and people whose teams didn't make the real big one. I know I was hoping Newie's Flegg team qualified, just so I'd have something to cheer today.

The quantity of people who love or appreciate Reg Reagan outnumber those who don't. Channel 9 are on a good thing with him and they are gonna ride it.

Matthew Johns aka Reg Reagan should be sued by Dragons half Jamie Keith and the Dragons club for his slanderous comment about Keith...Johns said that he had been talking to Keith at the Bourbon & Beef Bar at 4 this morning..Regardless of his intention ,(lame humour), Johns has slandered Keith by making this comment deriding Keith's attitude to the importance of the Grand Final..Given all the negative publicity about League players and alcohol over the years, Johns should be, at very least, castigated by his employers..

Sorry but I thought it that he bought nothing to the event. It's pretty sad that C9 seem to want to bring footys biggest day down to their lowbrow level.

Stupid comment, these are the players of the future and it's "who cares"?

Not shocked, you do follow Newcastle and their side for next year will have an average age of 30.

Or is it just because the Eels thrashed Newcastle in Finals week 1?

Not in Flegg they didn't, you daft sh*t. That was Premier League. Good to see you're following your team's progress so closely.

If it's so 'huge' in your eyes (and being a Parramatta fan, I guess it means something extra special to you - since the two lower grades are all ya'll are a chance of winning anytime soon), why was the crowd so small and quiet? I doubt the ratings for the whole thing were any good either.

It matters to the players, as I said, but then - so does the match between the two high schools. Doesn't mean we're supposed to treat it like it's some momentous event.

I knew we thrashed you in one of them, give me a break :?.

The regular competition doesn't matter as much, that's why it isn't televised but this is the Grand Final and probably the biggest moment in alot of those kids' lives, to treat it as a joke with Reg Reagan could make a few people mad (though it didn't really bother me). The people who really care about the game watch it, and the people who don't should give it a chance because it's quite good footy.

Oh, and thanks for the good laugh I got from..

(and being a Parramatta fan, I guess it means something extra special to you - since the two lower grades are all ya'll are a chance of winning anytime soon),

 I hope you were enjoying your wooden spoon while you were typing that, I guess you did win more than us this year.

Proud of it. When was the last time Parramatta won a grand final? I vaguely recall not even having started school....

9 have been slipping a bit of this crap into their telecasts of late. Thursday night footy show is the time and place for it. I'd much prefer the keep the actual footy a bit more serious then that.
