Regarding Tri-series and Possibles v Probables

There's been a number of enquiries regarding what's happening after the F7s grand final.

As there are still teams competing in the semi-finals, I ask that we don't distract them if that's possible.

Hopefully the following will answer any questions:

October 6th 2004: F7s grand final (fulltime)

October 9th: Announcement regarding:
1.) Tri-Series: Aust v GB v NZ (to be played in October)
2.) Possibles v Probables tournament (to be played in November)

To clarify...

The Tri-series is fairly self explanatory and will go along the same lines as the rep games already played.

The Possible vProbable tournament is in effect a series of trials, and will open to all comers.

The aim of of this is give new teams a chance to form. The winner of the PvP doesn't neccessarily guarantee an invitation into the 2005 F7s competition (although it obviously helps). Invitations will be issued based on those teams who seem to have their act together.

In 2005, we aim at seeing all 10 posts (5 vs 5) in every game. If you look like you are a good chance of playing at that level, you'll be issued an invitation.

Everyone is welcomed (and encouraged) to organise themselves for these upcoming events - in this thread if you like - as long as it doesn't distract from the current competition.

But nothing will be officially organised before October 9th.

The F7s website has more information including the rules and the draw.

If there's any questions, please don't hesitate to ask

Cheers.

Just out of curiosity ... is there a certain number of new teams the competition is aiming for or will it be a simple case of "if you're good enough, you're in"?

The latter.
I was asked this the other day by someone researching the F7s; and when pressed, I said we expect to have 1-3 new teams.
That would mean 10, 11 or 12 for 2005.

But a lot of factors will come into play:

Number of F7s players.
Number of active LU members (potential F7s players).
Number of competent captains.*

*That is, captains who are natural and committed leaders... and know how to keep a team together for months on end.

The aim is have 5v5 every match, every round and this is what we have to look at above all other factors.

The Possibles vs Probables will be open to all comers and the new captains will be allowed the leg-up of recruiting from current F7s teams. I ask the current captains to trust the method and look forward to a stronger F7s in 2005.
