Relieve McGregor of picking the team?

Is it time we take away McGregor's responsibilities of picking the team? Clearly, its too great a burden, and he picks guys like McCrone and McDonald every week.

Quite simple:
1) full squad list on poll that closes by 12pm Tuesday

2) the first 21 listed on a new poll, that closes 24 hours before the game

3) last poll closes an hour before the game

We all know much better.

Good point. I too think McGregor shouldn't be allowed to pick the team every week, or train the team every week, or talk too any of the players during the week......maybe he could drive the bus on game day, although that's a problem too I suppose.

Theat's an under-kill. What really needs to happen is for the Board to take responsibility and sack Mary. Pay him out admitting they made a grave mistake. It is very hard to understand why they made such a decision so early in the season however, just coff-up the $1m or so and relieve us of this coaching staff. Or did they sign up Hornby and Young as well. Maybe part of the deal. So say another 500k.

I say bring in a new coach and make it so that Millward is answerable to him and both recruitment/pathways and the head coach are part of the football committee who recommend/advise the Board on football decisions.

Along with the other old boys. I'd love to see a list of the football club employees and what their salary is. I believe some on here would be surprised who and how much they are suckng from our 'cash strapped club'. Maybe someone on here has access to this info and would like to share it with us.

We signed him as a coach, so just like the players, if he doesn't perform he can go down to Reggie's to improve his coaching.

We have three grades he can coach.

This experience may also lead to understand the need to drop non performing players.

We had to resign him early, the club had heard the Sharks were on the lookout for a second water runner so we had to get him quick.

The fans would appear to be at the end of the things they are worried about.
The Dogs have made 2 grand finals in the last 5 years and were closer to punting their coach than we ever were to punting ours. That says plenty about our board.

It was in jest.

Honestly, our coach needs to have control and accountability. Millwood should report into Mary. If we are not successful over the next two years, who can you hold accountable? McGregor? Millwood? Doust? Its really not clear and the performance criteria are no define or public - which is poor governance.

Our last 2 months, 6 loses 1 win. Yes, take Mary off selection duties.

I would hope McStupid would have a performance clause in the contract, apart from just turning up each weekend.
If we fall even further down the leader board And miss the eight or just scrape in the Board should sack him.
But we live in a world of WTF, he will be the coach for the next two years. If that happens we may as well kiss our juniors goodbye.
