There is a re-issue of a book written in 85 called "Inner City Sounds".
It is all about the Aussie punk rock scene from the late 70's to the mid eighties.
All the usual supects get a mention.
Birdmen, Hitmen , The Saints etc .
It has heaps of pics of all the old venues and stuff.
Plus the re-issue comes with a double CD of all these old bands .
The quality is dated but still a nice little piece of memorabilia...if your into that stuff.

They had the guy who wrote it on JJJ the other night on the Oz music show.

just saw this...thanks Carch. I have the original somewhere. Its pretty thorough from memory. The original was co-written with Glenn A Baker.

We should be proud of our punk rock. Saints and Birdman were before the Pistols and Ramones. Later it was the Scientists who were sited as influences for the whole Seattle scene. In another vein I was at the Whiskey in LA one night and on stage was Angry Anderson with special guests Slash and Axl. All they could say was how important Rose tattoo albums while they were growng up.

Long live Oz Rawk.

Not related but this website is awesome...

Bit embarrassing actually. Someone had to tell who they (Axl and Slash) were.

Later that night I got on the drug that killed River Phoenix.
