So... The RFL have confirmed what we already knew - Toulouse will return to the elite. That means a 10 team championship. But with Widnes going up and Crusaders not having applied for a particular league, it's all a bit of a mind f**k what the make up of the championships will be next year.
There's a concise explanation from the RFL at the link.

From that, I got caught up in another chat today about my ideal 10-12 team Super League.
1. Wigan
2. Warrington
3. Saints
4. Leeds
5. Catalan
6. Hull FC
7. Huddersfield
8. London
9. Bradford
These are the definites. Salford have the new stadium. If they can get a crowd and spend the cap, they should be alright. Matt Parish's assessment of the club is awful though.
Widnes, also if they can spend to the cap should get a start.
Toulouse will surely have a crack from the next licence period and should get a start with a better stadium. That's 12. The licensing period after that would hopefully include London 2 and Wales.
That would leave a perfectly supportable championship including the likes of:
Wakey
Castleford
Halifax
Hull KR
Leigh
Barrow
North Wales
South Wales
Sheffield
etc etc.
If you had one up one down with criteria and London and Cats exempt, I wouldn't mind it. It would be better than trading one rubbish club for another.
