RFL chief executive Nigel Wood said the league made a profit of £295,000 in 2014 when investment in the game reached a record £32million, an increase of 24 per cent on 2013.
"We are delighted that after what was a challenging trading year, the financial results from 2014 once again enabled us to make additional distributions to clubs," Wood said.
"Our balance sheet remains strong and we have been fortunate to be able to add to reserves this year.
"In spite of there being no international rugby league in this country last year, we were able to exceed our budgeted profit by recording a profit before tax of £295,000.
"Our financial performance in 2014 has left the sport and its member clubs and organisations well placed to make the most of the opportunities afforded by the new league structure."
Huddersfield director Dr Paul Morgan was elected as RFL president for 2015-2106, with Barrow director Peter Hornby made vice-president, while Clare Morrow was re-elected as a non-executive director.

Great, maybe they could consider hiring regional development officers again after scrapping most of them in the past year.

You'd think with NZ touring tis year, reserves will increase.
Then maybe hire some development officers (even part time) in regional areas.
As for reserves, Australia hasn't even got that right yet.
