For what it's worth, Bulldog Richie claims on the gameplan that Stone is in the mix for Parra.

Would be interesting to see how Stone went.

hardly surprising that his name is gonna be thrown up - I sincerely hope he hangs around with the Knights - I cant see wayne staying for the full 4 years and what Rick is learning right now will be of SO much benefit for the Knights when and if that happens - STAY RICK STAY - JUST ANOTHER YEAR OR 2 APPRENTICESHIP PLEASE..

If it does eventuate then Rick goes with my blessing and with no resentment. He's too good to be a reserve grade coach. That loss against Manly at Brookvale 2011 cemented my high opinion of him.

There's no hype with Rick. No "Bellamy's apprentice" crap. Rick is his own man with his own unique coaching style.

The only concern I have with the Eels is that Rick might be forced to work with Chris Anderson, whose coaching techniques are from a bygone era that is no longer valid in the modern game. To put it simply, Rick would be working with a dinosaur. If they give Rick the head coach job he should be given complete autonomy to choose his players and coaching assistants.

Couldn't agree more SK he's fantastic Stone!! I'd hate to see him go but completely agree he's to good to be an assistant.

Who knows, maybe we can sign him back when Bennett is done!! Hee Hee!!

Stone certainly deserves a first grade coaching gig but I hope he doesn't go to Parra. I wouldn't wish that job on anyone.

Parra need a coach who isn't afraid to rip into the board in private and public, and naturally there board would never hire someone like that.

I think Stone has some good attributes as a coach. On the negatives however, let's not forget that for more than half of last season, our forwards didn't turn up to play. It wasn't actually until later in the season with contract time happening that some of the forwards started to perform, AK47 for example.

I think Parra dropping the first Anderson was a mistake, they got to a Grand Final only the season before that and then they got rid of him, seem pretty fickle to me. They could have at least given him another year to make up for it but didn't give the chance.

Stone will stay. I mean who wouldnt want to inherit a bennett era, especially one that is tasked with putting the place in order, not just win a comp like it was @ st george.

A guy that had success at QLD cup level, that did time under Brian Smith, got a crack at a HC job, got some great results, and then moved back to assistant for at least the next 4 years.

Whilst the Parra job is not a marquee job, it is a Head Coach gig.

Don't forget though that with Tinkler bankrolling our club Stone could very well be on just as much money as a lot of the head coaches at other clubs, so if he has a desire to leave and go for a head coaching role elsewhere it would probably be more about status rather than pay.

Money would not be the factor in the decision at all. I am sure Tinkler will look after Stone if he sticks around.

He has had a taste of an NRL Head Coach job, and he got some runs on the board. Why wouldnt he entertain an offer from another club to once again become top dog?

Of course it is about status. No one plays to come 2nd.

How secure would Tinkler's guarantee to Stone about being Newcastle's head coach in 2016 be anyway? Going on past events, we'll get to the midpoint of the 2015 season and Tinkler will make a big play for someone like Bellamy or Hasler and all of a sudden Stone has spent 4 years of his life playing second fiddle for nothing.

The way I see it, a large part of Stone being kept around as an assistant was for good PR after Bennett was signed. Stone was popular with the players, he was popular with the fans. Tinkler perhaps didn't want to get too many people offside so early into his reign. I'm sure if a head coaching job was to be offered to Stone he would have the blessing of Tinkler and Bennett in leaving.

At the end of the day, if Bennet doesn't bring home a premiership within the next few years, do you really think Stone will take over? He might. But if i had to bet i would think Tinkler would throw his Jet at the likes of Sticky/Hasler/Gould or any other top coaches. Tinks is on a mission here.

I hope Stone stays and inherits the team. But he has to do what is best for himself and unless he has something in writing from Tinks, a head coach gig might be too good to turn down.

Why anybody would want to go to Parramatta at the moment is beyond me. With their dysfunctional board it'd be a poison challis

If bennett leaves with the job done i reckon stone will get the job. Otherwise tinkler will be thawing out jack gibson.
