Ricketson named successor to Fittler as Roosters captain

Luke Ricketson was today named successor to Brad Fittler as captain of the Sydney Roosters National Rugby League team.

Lock Ricketson, 31, takes over following the retirement of Fittler at the end of last season.

"The captaincy is a special honour at the Roosters, when you consider you are following in the footsteps of legends like Arthur Beetson, Dally Messenger, Dick Dunn and of course Fittler," Ricketson said today.

Fittler led the Roosters to their premiership triumph of 2002 and to last year's grand final where they lost to the Bulldogs.
