Ricketson one of our best ever captains

I just herd on fox sports that Ricketson will retire at the end of this year, we all know that he could play at least 2 more years but he is retiring I think because then The Roosters can re sign Flannery and Crocker…I don’t think any other player or captain would do that for the clubs future. Making him one of best captains ever!!!

secondly i believe 99% crocker is gone, he could command 300.000 a yr and there is no way the roosters can afford that

flannery has been tabled a 3 yr deal with ricko or without him, i guess ricko retiring will have an effect if we look to pursue anasta, bailey or mason

Ricko has announced his retirement - shame. but he was getting towards the end of his career and he was only had this year to go on his contract.

the best captain we have ever (in my time) was A. Beetson followed closely by B. Fittler

He deserved to hold the captaincy for more than one season, but that's just circumstances unfortunately.

Luke Ricketson has been a great player for the Roosters but based on 2005 form he would not be an automatic selection had he been anyone else at the Roosters. His career is winding down and you can see it in his play. Especially in defence. he has been one of our finest players but one of our greatest captains he would not be in the top dozen. I have been following the Roosters since the early 80's and he would be behind about 5 since then.
