Rebecca Wilson in todays Telegraph has said that Stuart has been earmarked to be national coach at the end of the roo tour.'Powerbrokers' have already made the decision but are sworn not to comment[although she has published it]
Any thoughts out there?
Personally I think he will do well :D

My opinion... He would make a great national coach. ATM he is head and shoulders above the rest.

I thing he will bring into the national side is a sense of pride, a feeling of belonging and a trusted ear...

he is the best coach in the NRL IMO and that is still considering Lang's success this year. Lang would also make a good coach as well.

Actually I thought their might have been a push for a Queenslander to be the national coach, and i'd much rather Ricky Stuart become the NSW coach, but he's an outstanding coach and would make a great Australian coach.

Ricky Stuart has an excellent tactical mind and would do very well leading the national team once Eddie Jones leaves the Wallabies.

If a coach can walk into the national coaching position after two years in first grade its a bloody joke. No doubt Ricky would do a great job as my grandmother could coach the Aussies to success but what ever happened to earning representative honors?

Hey Sal he's coached a Winning and Losing NRL Grand Final Team what more do you want??? ;-)

Seriously though, everyone said his first year was a fluke....it was no fluke!!!...especially having them appear on the BIGGEST day in Rugby League for 2 consecutive years.....I don't believe it was Stuart's fault our boys lost.

I reckon he would be great......and he also is young and will bring fresh ideas!!!!!!

STICKY FOR AUSTRALIAN COACH....he gets my vote

Things would be no different than they are now with Stuart as coach. Roosters players would still receive favouritism. We will get belted by the poms if they don't come to their senses soon and give some of the Penrith boys a run.

Sorry but two years as a first grade coach is not enough to earn the top job regardless of what you have achieved. Michael Hagan took the Knights to a premiership in his first year and the top 4 in the second, if Anderson had stepped down at the start of this year should he have been the top candidate? No.

Sal I was only joking (hence all the little laughing emoticons)....sometimes you guys around here take things way to serious...

Just curious...who do you want to fill the position???

I really hate to say it but Gould is probably the best man to take the job, I think International and Origin teams need a coach who isn't involved in the day to day grind of club footy. Bennett will retire from origin coaching again next year for the same reason again, its just too much of a strain and it affects the club as well.

In his 3 years of coaching Stuart has won to GF's and gotten his team into a third. The bloke must be doing something right.

Absolutely Pen!!! no matter what he does though there will always be people complaining about him

Ricky would make an excellent Australian Coach whether it be now or later....it will happen one day.

Gee I am surprised you mentioned Gus Sal....are you feeling OK??

I believe Gus is good for the job but everyone complains about him also....can't win

John Lang is the man for the job.

The bloke coaches using the age old principle of common sense.

All the other young upstart coaches like Stuart and Nathan Brown etc. think they can do a part time Dale Carnegie course in public speaking, and learn a few buzz words and catch phrases, and that's all it takes.

Stuart's success is based on the fact that he has had Fittler in his side steering the ship around the paddock. Also coaching for a club that seems to fit 5 million dollars worth of player's contracts under a 3 and a half million cap makes a coaches job easy too.

Also having an ex-panther legend in John Cartwright in the co-pilot's seat has helped Stuart's success. In fact a lot of the Rooster's success in the last few years can be attributed to ex-panthers. Gould, Fittler, Cartwright, who learn't their trade out in the west where the real people live.

Yeah well Freddy has been at the Roosters for the majority of his Career now and we have only one 1 Premiership...which coincided with Ricky Stuart....gee even the harshest of critics would have to agree that Ricky has done a good job......dont put Ricky in the same league as the face slapping fool.....

As for as Gus he didn't start his Football Career in Penrith as far as I am aware.....please correct me if I am wrong.

Then you talk about 3 men in Freddy, Gould and Cartwright.

How many players in a team??? the answer would be 17.

How many coaches/trainers do the Roosters have?? that would be about 5 (Ricky, Cartwright, Cleary, Gus and Ron Palmer).

So in the 22 involved with this years Grand Final I am happy to say that only 3 are Penrith juniors. Freddy, Catic and Cartwright......probably the same amount of juniors you stole from St George Illawarra or Cronulla, or New Zealand......stupid issue I know....but you raised it!!!

See you win your 2nd Grand Final in how many years?? and your already claiming to be the best nursery for Rugby League....give it a rest.

Did you know that Lang played for the Roosters???? Players and Coaches leave teams all the time....so what is the deal??? get over it...you won a Grand Final and your still carrying on.

Oh and you should enjoy trying to keep your 5 Million dollar team under the 3.25 Million dollar cap over the next few years   Now you have players being picked in the Rep Sides that makes them far more expense ;-)

I was going to reply further.........but decided the washing was far more important :p

Very good Roostargirl. Yes, Gould played at Newtown and Canterbury, but learn't his trade at Penrith. Lang did play for the Roosters and enjoyed success at Cronulla, but he only reached dizzy heights of success when he came to the fibro country.

Don't worry about us coming under the cap. When Girds goes about 400k will be freed up to keep blokes like Lewis, Rooney and Clinton.

I think if you guys had room to move under your cap, you might have been successful in poaching Wesser from us. BTW, was that an admission in part that he is better than Minnicello? :?: :?: :?: :?:

WRONG AGAIN!!!

Wesser was never linked with our Club really it was just a case of pretend you've been offered more money from the Roosters to bump up your Contract with your current club its been going on for years.

The reason he was linked at our Club from my sources is that his Girlfriend lives or lived in the Eastern Suburbs....thats it.

Typical Penrith gossip!!! yes I know all about it I live there I to am what you call a real person

Hey and you reckon $400,000 will help secure all 3 of those boys....2 of which have made the Australian side (in your Dreams) everyone will be chasing them and throwing big money at them now......the problems of being the Premiers     ......one team suffers every year.
