Five-eighth Ian Johnston was afforded the honour of becoming Parramatta’s first Australian Test player when he was selected to play against New Zealand in 1951, however Johnston’s elevation to the rank of international would prove to be one of the few highlights in a decade in which the club enjoyed very little on-field success.
