just to keep this separate from the main thread - the game appears to have been released now so if you have it please feel free to post your impressions and/or reviews, as well as any in-game stories or situations that you feel others here might get a  or a  out of

personally i don't ever recall being this underwhelmed for the release of a rugby league game, i would love to be proven wrong

passing lag straight up is shit...

players dropping back, even though we defend the goalline...As an example, I have had players near the dead ball line.

Passing can be a hot potato sort of thing lol.

It does look reasonable and graphically they have hit the mark.

Yeah I noticed that too. Not sure why he kept doing that.

I also saw that in the main screen before he played his first match in the career goals it had score 8 tries in a single match. That better be a team goal and not an individual goal

Also watch from 45:55. Front rowers can still run the length to score in broken play. The AI defenders are forming a congo line behind him

Alright guys, Ive played 5 games so far. 4 online games and 1 vs the AI

I'd probably give the game and 8/10 based on my experience. Overall it is fun, which is the main thing but it does have some killer issues.

Some of the positives -

Stamina - big difference without subbing. Also running up the guts whilst boring as bat shit, does allow later cause the opposition to move slower and makes for easier line breaks.

Tackling - this is both a positive and a negative. The various animations, three man tackles and etc look quite good. Big difference when tackling high and low - As an example Jordan Rapana is the next Jonah Lomu if you take him high lol.

Ball movement - The passing is average at best, but by making it average it has stopped a lot of the random long balls and the delay in passing means players cannot do the RLL 2 move of just tapping R1 or L1. Hot potato footy still happens though.

Negatives:

AI/CPU - Sometimes they lose the plot and run away from the game. I had a game where I charged in with Blake Austin into three guys, they all ran in opposite directions and allow me to score un touched...

Try scoring - Waqa held up by Dylan Napa and two other guys, not enough as he still put the ball down. Looked alright, but how he moved the ball from that position onto the ground was just plain crazy lol.

Tackling - The auto tackle feature isnt a bad thing, but I think it needs more a of a risk/reward type setup. Presently you just hold the tackle button, the guy chases the attacker until he is tackled.

Big hits - They look awesome, but something about Sam Williams dropping JWH with a big hit seemed slightly off.

I will have a few more hours of gameplay today, but so far it is enjoyable, even though it does have the issue with the AI dropping back, which just annoys the shit out of me.

I'd give it about a 6/10 so far, although I have only played a couple of games. It seems that linebreaks are pretty easy to come by and pretty hard to stop with the ease that players fend off other players.

Mate the line breaks i find are hard to come by. I see maybe 2-4 a game, but all get shut down easy. Just hit R1/L1, then switch to the Fullback and then hold down R2 and X and just zoom onto the attacking player. At the least, you will slow them down and maybe have enough time to stop a try.

Also to stop line breaks, try not to move players out of the line. If you shuffle down to the nearest defender then tackle, that usually works best. Some people I have played online try and have the markers make the tackle..usually results in a huge hole in the defensive line. It may not get me a line break, but a fast play the ball is just as good.

Ive played the top rated players so far and had games of 6-0. Games get tight online.

I did have a few massive wins, like a 26-0 win, where I had a few plays go the length of the field.

Also I find using the L1/R1 & O pass from dummy half allows me to have the forwards hit it up on an angle and make more metres.

Maybe it's the Xbox One talking, but I'm not overly fussed with the graphics. It may be a settings problem but the colours look all wrong, like the cheerleaders are 4 shades of black/brown. Possible gamma set incorrectly, I was pretty tired booting it up at 10:30 last night.

Animations are good but I've found the gameplay/replays jerky in sections, nothing we didnt see in the footage pre-release though.

Had 4 games all up, a Dragons Vs. QLD Cup Tigers which I lost 4-0, a Grand Final between Dragons and Titans which I won 24 - 0, A 9's game as Dragons V Sharks which I won 18 - 6 (I think) and a career game.

The first 2 were to get a feel for the game, learn some controls, etc. They were ok, very much like RLL2 but more polished, found dummy half running better, and forwards running the ball up more effective. One intercept, but mostly the ball goes forward from the pass/knock on if I try to get too fancy.

The real fun for me was the 9's game. Holy f**k that was fun. Obviously gaps are easier to find and exploit but also harder to defend. Great addition to the game, can't wait for my 9's tournament on the weekend with mates before the footy on Saturday!

Made myself for a career mode, started a 183cm, 104kg right side centre with speed to burn.

It's.... odd. Standing out in the centres calling for the ball and sometimes coming across field to make a quick hit up and making good, fast chases from kicks is a bit ......boring? I ended up calling for the ball a bit more and trying to play a bit of a ball playing role through the middle. I did score a try on debut and made 100 odd metres though. I bumped the match halves to 10 mins and might drop them back to 5's for this mode, at least until I get into the NRL side.

Didnt get to put a whole lot of time in as I had prior engagements but so far I'd give it a 8/10. 9's mode alone gives it an extra 2 points. I'll play around with the graphical settings tonight and give it a few more hours and report back.

After playing the game for shit loads of hours yesterday and some today,

I'd change my rating to a 7/10.

Some annoying AI overall kills some plays. Defense is way overpowered, passing is piss poor.

I do enjoy the game, which is surprising considering the amount of AI issues present lol.

Started a coach career decided to use tigers and rebuild them as it gives you the option to stay or go at the end of the season anyway

9s is so much fun. Lots of gaps Tedesco got burned by Johnson which sucked but was good to watch. I'm enjoying the push and drag tackle system and can see it'll come in handy using forwards

Did anyone else put their names in when they asked to have them added to the name?

I put up Hargrave but only Hargreaves made it in there.

in RLL2 if you went in for a tackle and another teamate got them you'd kinda "ghost" through the attacker. does this still happen? it felt like there was no actually collision in the game
