Robbie, Marieke and The Doctor discussion

For any serious music lover, Triple J owns all. Apart from the maestro known as Scott Dooley (sp) in the afternoons, the breakfast team of Robbie, Marieke and The Doctor own all and sundry.

Discuss the gang here.

p.s. f**k, try and get on the air and tell your story here. As an example, Friday F'wit nominations to be posted here :D

The Doctor is not funny, and someone should tell him as much.

I can't get with JJJ anymore, it contradicts itself with its elitist attitudes towards pop, yet ejaculates all over the achingly mainstream Kings Of Leon.

Triple J sh*ts me because of the amount of f**king electro/electro pop rubbish that gets played, along with excessive amounts of hip hop and everything else is indie rock. They bleat on about their cred yet ignore mass genres of music, shifting it to the late night specialty programs.

The presenters are mostly good however, Zan is good and Dools is pretty funny, especially if Sam Simmons or Steph Hughes is in with him.

Breakfast show gets annoying. The doctor was always a bit of a twat in Frenzal and its gotten worse, Robbie is a bit of a tool and Marieke is not funny. Jay and the Doctor was much better and Adam and Wil better again

Triple J has forgotten what a loud distorted electric guitar is. Its all about Aussie Hip Hop, arty farty treehuggers and dancy/electro crap.

Richard Kingsmill (who is the fuhrer) should take a look at what type of music did the best on the latest hottest 100 and stick with that, like triple J used to do back in their glory days.

Sam Simmons cracks me up.

He is a total douche, but there's something about him that is p*ss funny.

Triple J > Any other radio station...Yes it plays a lot of garbage now, but nothing compared to Triple M or Nova.

I'd listen to Star FM just for the Nights show.

Scott Dooley makes me want to punch things. He's up there with the most annoying people on radio. Big tip Dools...try not to laugh at your own joke...especially before you get to the punchline.

I listen to Robbie et al in the morning. Hack is also good to listen to on the way home from work.

I listen to JJJ when I am at home working around the house.

The content has changed a lot over the years but I think that reflects the people making it.

...In the early 90's there was no real cheap and easy way to record at home...now you can do it all in your bedroom for a couple of grand.

Saves getting a band together, rehearsal space blah blah .

shytes me no end though.

Robbie Marieke and the Doctor are funny as.. Dools is great also... Always get a good laugh on the way home from work.

I only listen to JJJ except when i am in the missus car, she listens to Nova, B105 and some other crappy channel, 97.3 i think.. Too many ads and crappy repetitive music for my liking

I used to listen to JJJ quite a lot until one day I watched a TV show which had a busload of JJJ "personalities" heading to Canberra for some wankfest.
There were various crappy interviews but the ones that struck me included that fat f**ktard Robbins who gushed about how JJJ broke all the music first etc and how the commercial stations all copied them etc etc etc...
He (and some of the others who spoke similarly) neglected to mention that the commercial stations pay their own way via ads etc whilst JJJ lives off of the public purse.
Personally I reckon that any radio show which has more than 2 people on air at any given time is extremely ordinary... ie a "brekky crew" etc.
I am however shallow enough to admit that if JTV happens to be on, I will watch if either the presenter or the interviewee is an attractive female.
Since then the norm has been to listen to tapes or CD's and very occasionally ABC AM.

It is since I threw away a Martin Plaza LP.
The only possible excuse I can think of for that purchase would have been involved a hot chick and lust.

Yeah, but back in those days (and still sometimes today) commercial stations used to wait and see what was popular on JJJ and then play it (if it wasn't too alternative) on their stations. You'd end up with a scenario when listening to a commercial station where the announcer would say "Here's the latest hit from [insert band here]" and you'd think "I heard that 12 months ago on JJJ".

JJJ are easily the best radio station when it comes to playing local music...music that you won't hear on a commercial station. I spoke with some Nova loving tard at work a few months ago and she was gushing about the Kings of Leon. She didn't believe me when I said they had quite a few albums before this one.

I don't listen to commercial radio because of the banality of the announcers (now it's time for another non-stop block of soft c**k rock...where are those Black Thunders with the icy cold can of coke) and the horrible ads.
