Rock Still With WWE?

I just found this interesting article about WWE contracts. Previously, I'd read articles about the Rocks contract having expired but now this has been leaked and it seems as though the Rock still is contracted to the WWE in some proximity. Interesting that Chris Jericho doesn't rate a mention anywhere either.

The Rock will always have a contract with the WWE, as even though he is not wrestling he is big $$$ for the WWE in merchandise!

i'm sceptical as to the legitimacy of these 'official' documents (not that i'm saying that their content isn't accurate, just that they weren't 'leaked'). firstly, they're from a wrestling website. and secondly, there's no mention of stone cold steve austin (who would at least be contracted to appear at the champions edition of raw ... at the very least).

lockyno1 - i'm not sure if the wwe requires a contract with the rock to continue to sell merchandise. i expect the contract is merely for appearance fees so, if the situation arises where the rock can appear on raw ([-o<) , both parties will be satisfied.

also, the rock's profile is still up on the wwe raw superstars page which, i suppose, means he is still contracted to the establishment.

and, just looking at all the active wrestlers, it's amazing how much dead wood there is (all of whom could be cut and replaced by wrestlers on the same show or new characters):
masters, snitsky, eugene, viscera, rosey, tomko, dupree, vito, dean, grenier, heidenreich and richards. i suppose, at some stage, they may break up the monotony, but some of them have been used in significant feuds, which they don't deserve.

stupid vinnie mac and his obsession with big, strong, steroid-using, acne-backed, technically poor wrestlers and his looking down on technically sound, high-flying, athletic, entertaining cruiserweights.

The WWE needs to pay him to sell merchandise! The figure is in the 100s of thousands a year. That is one of the reasons "The Rock appears in his movies

Here is a bit more on this situation:

Confirming the rumors, PWTorch.com reports that WWE did contact The Rock about appearing on the "Night Of Champions," but the wrestler-turned-actor declined to appear. No one knows whether that was due to a prior commitment or if he simply did not want to work the show. It is worth reporting that internal WWE documents list Rock as part of its talent pool, so many likely assumed he would be available for the big episode of RAW.

To tell you the truth I am very surprised in the ROCK, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt as I don't know WHY he has refused to come. He may have commitments.

He doesn't need to be under contract to make an appearance. Blue Meanie was never on contract (open contracts are usually verbal agreements, and not legally binding for either party) but made several appearances. Stone Cold could make an appearance under open contract rules.

I do believe the reason Stone Cold is not listed is because he could be in between contracts and they are in the process of making him a new one. He is meant to be coming back for the Night of Champions, and staying from there after.

actually, i was having a go at you for consistently believing everything that is written on a wrestling website.

the mere thought of the rock not being on the night of champions (for whatever reason) makes me sad.

Ive never actually said I believe it, its called speculation.

I read something today about Rock making an appearance Unforgiven...doesnt mean its to be believed. He might even still front up on the Night of Champions without the WWE making it public as some what of a surprise, because Id imagine if WWE fans got a vote of the most recent superstar theyd wanna see again, itd probably be the rock.
