With the Broncos deciding against offering Davies a new contract, Reds coach Phil Mooney confirmed the former schoolboys rugby union star was poised to play in the Super 14 next season.
He will crack super 14 next year with the reds.. he was never going to crack first grade this year or next year with the broncs.
to be honest he's a finisher not a creater or line breaker.. he is better suited to union.
he's a good kid. ive interviewed him a few times and he always seemed to enjoy playing league more. league is in his blood. his father played central qld comps for ages.
But he wants to play first grade and believes he is ready. He likes union and the Reds last time offered him a much better deal than the Broncos but he stuck with the Broncos for this year hoping for a crack.
He will be offered a place in the Reds top 25 like he was last time. Up against another season of Wizard Cup its hard to kock that back.
Having said that he never shone in Wizard Cup, played some good games but never stood out.
funny enough Davies was an excellent 5/8th back when he was playing juniors but they seem to be using him in the outside backs becos of his speed..id like to see Norths give him a game at 5/8th just to see how he would go..
