Next month’s trial matches in Gosford and Wollongong mark the continuation of the Sydney Roosters’ goal of promoting the game in regional areas.

As part of the club’s commitment to put something back into rugby league in regional areas – where it enjoys phenomenal Australia-wide support – the Roosters will clash with Manly at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday, February 18th in all three grades.

“Our club is committed to repaying the support we receive from all over the country,” CEO Brian Canavan said.

“We’ve taken an NRL match to Gosford over the past two seasons and received enormous support from the Central Coast community.

“The club enjoys enormous support from the Central Coast and Wollongong regions and indeed, all rural regions over Australia.

“The feedback and excitement we’re receiving about our trial matches is very encouraging.

“A great deal of our playing squad has come to us from rural areas – they form a vital part in the success of the NRL.

“Promoting the game in the country is part of our way to thank them for their support.”

Five Roosters stars will head to the Riverina next week as part of the NRL’s Qantas Link Community Carnival, while the club conducted a highly successful coaching clinic for local kids in Berkeley last week.

Tickets for the club’s trial with Manly – who will blood high-profile off-season recruits Matt Orford and Steve Bell – are selling fast, so don’t miss your chance to catch a glimpse of history!

The club’s big names will be on show, while the day will mark the first occasion the mighty Newtown Jets step out as the Roosters’ Premier League side.

And don’t forget, Jim Dymock’s Jersey Flegg outfit, which contains a number of potential first graders, are now confirmed starters against the Sea Eagles at 4pm!

so much for people accrusing us of doing nothing for promotions and putting time into other areas as well as our own

Good on the Roosters!!

Any sort of promotion like this, undertaken by any NRL club no matter who they are, is always going to be good for the game. It will re-affirm Rugby League's dominance in such areas and will keep the likes of Yawnion and AFL away.
