This is a fantasy based question but just wondering who you guys think is most likely to be in the top 17, keating or mitchell?

Thanks in advance

Spot on. We're talking about SK's team here and not my team. So Shane will be the bench prop.

He'll pick Keating at 14. Nothing surer.

As to whether or not he should, I don't think Mitchell's as sh*t hot as everybody's saying. He's a tiny little bloke.

Mitch could be on the bench by mid-season (probably displacing Keating) but more likely is he'll get his games due to injury.

That's a very weak back-line defensively...

Reddy is said to be medically cleared for round 1...Kearney has said he MIGHT bring him back through Premier League or he might come straight into firsts...IMO we need his defence.

There's no way I'd be using Chris Walker in the centres, he looks like he'ss miss the first couple of rounds. I think the side Poupou posted earlier in this thread is pretty much spot on with what Kearney will select. Though I think he may go Hicks over Etu on the wing.

From what ive seen of ETU i dont think he is up to first grade standards as far as ball handling goes.
I do believe i tipped Taniela for a big year- Looks like he has cemented a spot in the top 17 for the first few rnds judging on trial form.
This guy has a big future.Out of the guys from our under 20s side when it had mannah-morts-KK i always thoughts taniela had the most promise...Good luck!!

I think Etu would be great on the wing for us. Long term too. He has speed and is a finisher and won't ever command top dollar. Kinda like Luke Burt.

Yeah, good point. Maybe SK will go with Ben Smith in the centres, and move a forward up to back row from the bench.

But if Reddy is fit, then I'd have him among the first picked on a weekly basis. He has managed some really good defensive games against key centre opponents in the past few seasons.

I think Ben Smith's centre days are behind him. I would continue to start Smith but see how Shackleton goes and maybe make a switch. Etu was so unlucky a couple of years back not to get a go, we had a few out and just when he may have been given a go was injured. I think he could be a good replacement for Grothe, strong and fast.

I agree that a Burt/walker combination may not be so strong defensively. But we have been weak on the wings on both sides for a while. Commentators liked to blame grothe for rushing in, but the same problems occurred on his side when he wasn't playig, and also on the other side.

If our line speed improves and we work harder on the inside, I'm
confident tha we can improve defensively.

I'd be more worried about making sure that the outside backs we use work hard on kick returns, an offer some penetration whether with footwork, speed,
or power.

I wouldn't be using smith ahead of any o the guys who played in the centres in trials. Probably not reddy either until he's played a few.
