Happy with the win. Happy we came to play from the start. Realistically only let them back into the game for a 20 minute period when we had depth on the field. Outside of some leaky defence we continue to just monster teams in field position with our line speed, post contact metres and a strong ruck.

Crichton continues to improve. I’m not sure where Luai fits into this side if Cleary stays but he looked very capable of being a very good companion to a more controlling half. Mez was immense in this game. Whare is also starting to get some of that zip back which is awesome to see.

Side looks a lot stronger next week. Hope Hetherington can have a couple more strong games before Blake is back and the side can settle down a bit.

Our ability to control the middle is why I was happy with the field goal from Maloney.

If Luai can be patient he'll get the job along side Cleary when Maloney goes. Remember Maloney is 33 this year.

He’d be 24 by the time Maloney is off contract. You can’t wait that long for a proper start in the NRL. Kid needs to make money while he can.

will another team take him though? If he goes who do we have coming up in the halves?

On the team in general.

I'm so proud of our boys. Tamou and Wallace need to go for different reasons. Tamou has very little effort and Wallace is a champion who's just getting old like me. Join the club wal we have j̶a̶c̶k̶e̶t̶s̶ sore joints and complain a lot.

Time for Katoa/Egan to be our fulltime hooker rotation.

Katoa is making silly errors lately. Egan will jump ahead of him soon hopefully

He made an error (or 2) last night but I reckon he’s been fantastic. Service is terrific & knows when to run. Strong defender. Very underrated player IMO. People seem to look over him because of the raps on Egan.

Egan still has a lot to prove. Looks an exciting talent but has played very limited first grade, he could be another Iosefa.

Either way, we’re in a great position having two apprentices of that quality.

Both should be in the 17 after origin. Time to move on from Wal

On a positive note, this will be the first game since round 4 in Townsville we haven't lost a player injured, who couldn't play the following week (most of them many more weeks), provided of course nothing comes up in the coming days.

I think we can all agree that Wal has been a wonderful servant but he looks behind the pace.

Katoa is looking really solid but playing long minutes and maintaining that standard will be the key.

Credit to the club and all involved to have such quality pushing through. With the injuries we’ve had, a lesser club would have been in real strife.

And how shit is the standard of footy this year?

There are about 6 decent teams and our depleted side is one of them. So many teams failing to live upto the hype.Cowboys easily top that category. From grand finalists to spoon contenders.

And my Eels ffs

I'll quote it again for our special friends especially the know-it-all old merkins like @Kilkenny .............thats an easy game. We were awful and won easy

Umina you are a goose, there is no such thing as an easy game these days. if a team doesnt turn up you can easily lose.... In saying that how many teams would be in second place with such a long injury list (ie manly)... We technically have no backline ( edwards, mansour, blake, cleary) out that's 4/7 first grade starters..57.14%. Tell me what other team would be able to survive with that many first graders out!!!!!

A couple of objective facts people need to understand.

1. We are the best club at dealing with injuries now because of the work Gus and the club has done.

2. There are easy games in the NRL.

Even you said it wasn't pretty. Yet are calling people whingers for saying the same thing. Saying it was a poor quality game isn't the same as having a go at our team and people shouldn't let their bias against certain commenters effect their reading comprehension.

It was always going to be poor quality though. Give them Pearce and Moga. Give us a few injured guys and the quality improves

10/16 teams going into this round had won more games than they lost. Shouldn't that make more hard games?

You can say that about two of our losses this year in different ways.

If Tamou makes a simple tackle in the second half they don’t come close.

With so many players out we are going to look clunky, look at the bench we started with. Tamou plus 3 guys who have played f**k all nrl games. Half the spines out. Half our back line is out. Any win with a team like that is a good win.

This is probably your best ever post. That is exactly right gets us 5 wins from locking up the finals being the best part

Thats a result of how many easy teams there are though.

The bottom 5 teams have lost a total of 35 games. They only have 13 wins between them.

Its really quiet pathetic how bad those teams are. Especially Eels and Cowboys who had reason to be optimistic for this season.

No one is saying every game is easy. Our win against the Cows was just good old fashioned great footy on our part.

Exactly. That's all people are saying.
