Can we officially write off North Melbourne now?

90 points before 3/4 time.

Buddy has done a one man demolition on them.

LIKELY FINAL LADDER AS AT 2/6

1 - Adelaide
2 - Collingwood
3 - West Coast
4 - Hawthorn
5 - Carlton
6 - Essendon
7 - Sydney
8 - Richmond
------------------
9 - St Kilda
10 - Fremantle
11 - Geelong
12 - Bulldogs
13 - North
14 - Port
15 - Brisbane
16 - Melbourne
17 - Gold Coast
18 - GWS

Last night's outcome could well prove crucial under this scenario, with Richmond to squeeze St Kilda out on percentage, with the Saints missing the eight despite accruing 13 wins.

Yes, one of the brighter young prospects in the competition, for mine.

Bad for the game.

North are gone. Great win for the Demons. I thought Port might get up. Very good win.

I guess we'll see how good Carlton are next Friday night, hopefully Scott is finished the rotation game and we can see the Cats at least at about 3/4 strength.

This rotation stuff just for the sake of it is pissing the fans off, they pay to see a game. He pulled Enright, Corey and Motlop at the last minute yesterday and the team was half full of kids. Apart from those 3 we still missing Wojinski, Varcoe, Tommyhawk, Vardy, Christiansen and subject to scans we wont see Menzal till next season.

Hopefully he'll settle on his selections pretty soon.

Collingwood without a doubt sole premiership favourite now, following an upset-packed round.

Brisbane were fantastic this afternoon and thoroughly deserved the win.

And what of Richmond, so desperate to emulate Collingwood, could they do it in what is shaping as a tight and open season?

Elsewhere, Carlton's fervent hopes of emulating Hawthorn have taken a big hit. Not sure what's going on there. They'll be missing Murphy massive, but the problems have to run deeper than that, surely.

Essendon? What the?!

What a ridiculous round. 18th and 15th beating 1st and 2nd. Buddys bag. One of the best games of the year Friday night. Then we managed to a) kick 9.0 in a row, and b) score 54 points in a quarter.

One of the weirdest rounds I can remember.

Agree.

Forget their start, where half the team was injured or playing in the VFL. They are on their way now. Be interesting to see if Pendles is injured though.

Only one team can beat them imo, but they are far too inconsistent. If their best player pulls out one of 'those' September's like his game on Saturday though they will give it a shake

Guffaw.

Returning to a more 2008-like structure and changing from slow precision ball movement to a preference for quicker running disposal worked on the weekend, but can it (or indeed will it) be sustained.

Never mind Franklin, the midfield cannot be relied upon week-in and week-out.

You don't get those concerns from the likes of Swanee River and Pendles.

The main worry for Collingwood, outside of an opponent having a day out, is for something untoward to happen to Cloke. The other good news, as much as it is, for other clubs re Collingwood, as that is hasn't got back to the sort of form it had during 2010 and for much of 2011. It may not be able to, and it may not need to, but if it did, it would be goodnight nurse.

Still have this feeling that Adelaide could be a threat, providing they can maintain their upward trajectory development. They're similar to Richmond, with pacy midfield run, but are ahead of them in development. Richmond has the better midfield, but Adelaide are ahead with their forward structure and defensive make-up.

That said. You know a side like Collingwood will keep rolling along at an acceptable level until finals time, whereas there's always the possibility that Adelaide will fall into a big hole at some point, purely because they're not fully developed and lack the big match experience to this point.
