A new week brings with it a new game and a new challenge. As we move onto Round 12, we look forward to taking on the Eels in what is going to be a very, very special Friday night. It's Indigenous Round. One of the most special and important Rounds of the Season as we celebrate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. As I've said, an incredibly special week and this year in particular is going to be amazing. I know the club has their biggest celebration planned yet, and I've heard it could perhaps even rival the All Stars so very much looking forward to that. The jersey looks incredible, one of our best Indigenous jerseys ever and I'm sure the boys will wear it with pride. Always an important Round for our club as we have so many proud Indigenous men ourselves. Can't wait to see them tear it up!!
We're taking on Parra which is always a huge game. But not only that, this is our first ever home game at the new Allianz so what an occasion Friday night is going to be. It's really hard to get a gauge on the Eels this year to be honest, they're quite hard to pick. It sort of seems like they are struggling, however, at the same time, they really taken it to some of the best sides this year and either come close or got the result. Because of that, I think we have to go into this one expecting a big game, just as we always have against Parramatta in years gone by. They'll be coming into this one extremely desperate as they need to start putting some results together soon. This, in my opinion, makes them dangerous. We must be wary and not take them lightly despite their recent form. They get Moses back which is a big boost and there is a lot of quality in their side between him, Brown, Gutherson, Sivo, Matterson, Paulo etc. Plenty of strike in that team, they're just not firing for some reason. But we have to go into this one expecting them to be on.
For us, while last week was great, we are going to have to step it up a notch in this one in terms of our intensity. I'm sure the boys and the coaching staff know this. It's a big game, Indigenous Round, and we need to win to stay in first. Not to mention this is the last game before the Origin period begins so a win would set us up for that well. As I say, I'm sure they will, and we'll be back to our regular intensity. The Round is one we always get up for, especially guys like Trell, Cody and AJ. Can't wait to see the Indigenous boys rip it up. I've said it a lot this year and I'll say it again, get our own game right and we should get this result, we should get Parra. It's if we turn up a bit off and not willing to do what we must to earn the win, that the Eels will pull our pants down. Defence should be the biggest focus once again. We kept them to nil last time we met, and that will be tough to repeat but it should be the aim. Complete your sets, lift the intensity a bit, and execute our chances, and I'm confident we can do this. It's all about the boys and their own performance this week.
Really excited for this one! It's a huge opportunity to go and consolidate our place as number one and it's also going to be a huge occasion on Friday night! One of the biggest ever. Just so special, I wish I could go. But anyways, enjoy the buildup of Indigenous Round everyone and let's go and get these Eels on Friday night!!
Glory, Glory.
