Reynolds has been ruled out of the contest after experiencing hamstring tightness on Tuesday's training session. That will see Ezra Mam retain his place in the team as he'll get to play the Gold Coast for the first time at Suncorp Stadium.

Selwyn Cobbo also missed training and isn't expected back until Thursday. According to Katie Brown of Channel 7 it's a personal matter but he is expected to take his place.

The Broncos also announced the return of Xavier Willison. Willison appears to have completed his rehab from a knee reconstruction and while he won't line-up this weekend, his return to QCup should be imminent. The Broncos have a high opinion of Willison, re-signing him until the 2025 season so expect to see plenty more of him down the line.

The big news out of the Titans team list is the return of David Fifita at 23. Fifita is expected to come into the team and it will be his last opportunity before Origin to make a claim for a jersey. Otherwise Brian Kelly comes in for Phillip Sami which makes them a more dangerous proposition. Kelly has errors in his game but he's also capable of conjuring up points with good early ball so he'll be key to their chances if they were to come up with an upset.

Brisbane shooting for six straight, despite the loss of Reynolds the team appears to be confident heading into the game. It's a big occassion with the players doning their Indigenous kit and the Broncos released a nice video on their website where they received their custom designed boots.

The Gold Coast have had the better of the Broncos in recent seasons, winning five of their last eight against the Broncos. In their last meeting, the Titans actually held a 22 point lead before Brisbane completed their biggest comeback to win 36-28.

Brisbane Broncos 35 (Cobbo, Martin, Riki, Farnworth, Capewell, Mam tries; Staggs 5/6 goals; Gamble field goal) def. Gold Coast Titans 24

8-4

It was a tale of two halves for the Broncos. After a dramatic week that opened with such good news with Farnworth before taking a turn with Haas, the Broncos had to work hard to prevail against the Gold Coast Titans. Trailing 24-4 at the break, the Broncos were able to turn the weight of possession and off the back of it score 31 unanswered points.

The key is that they played with more enthusiasm in the second half, they fixed their ill discipline and played with some patience. Instead of going into their shell after the Corey Oates knock on over the line, they just worked through their sets, challenged the Gold Coast on their line and it eventually took it's toll. The Titans actually defended valiantly to open the second half, but without any piggybacks or cheap turn-overs, they lost the ascedency and the Broncos never surrendered it in the second half.

As you alluded to @ALX25 they started to kick smarter and the chasers put more effort into their work. They made the Titans life more difficult to make things easier for themselves and it paid off.

What was very pleasing is that when the game was on the line the players backed themselves and played some quality football. @Mr Angry 's guy Ezra Mam threw a fantastic cut out ball that put Oates into space and Corey summed the situation up perfectly with plenty of Broncos jerseys pushing through. Then later on the set to score what would be the match-winner was sublime. Not only did he defuse a difficult miss kick from Sexton with wonderful hands but then the way he ran onto the Herbie flick-pass to score was classy.

It was a very difficult night for Mam. The Titans targeted early and earned a lot of momentum running down his side before swinging right. It appeared they had the Broncos worked out but to Mam's credit he didn't shirk his defensive responsibilities and even with a fresh Fifita targeting him, Mam kept coming for him.

I'd argue that Reynolds injury has been a blessing in disguise for the Broncos. Mam was struggling playing at Souths Logan and needed a lift. Being able to play alongside a State of Origin premiership winner like Kurt Capewell has instilled him with confidence and having Farnworth outside of him has helped as well. Him and Corey Oates formed a good pairing in QCup and the Broncos got to reap the rewards tonight.

After the game, Payne Haas admitted he was rattled during the game. Everytime he took a carry, the crowd booed him and he appeared to be very emotional. While it wasn't his busiest night, Haas still had some quality plays tonight including a bustling run that almost resulted in a try and of course the effort on Campbell which really kick-started the Broncos second half comeback.

It should be stressed that it was a team performance that got them home. Even though the Gold Coast played into their own demise the effort the players put into support one another made all the difference.

Only saw the first half live & was surprised at the result when I saw it this morning!

first half seemed like the service from dummy half, and from the halves at times, was just a bit off, and the attack was stilted.

anyway they turned it around in the second!!
