Canberra Raiders 26 def. Dolphins 25 (Jeremy Marshall-King, Jack Bostock, Jake Averillo, Kurt Donoghoe tries; Jamayne Isaako 4/4 goals; Jamayne Isaako field goal)

7-5

The Dolphins just couldn't get the job done. They actually had the game won, Isaako nailed the field goal, only for Plath to be called for the most minor of infringements.

It was the right call, don't get me wrong but it was completely unnecessary from Plath and would have made no difference to Isaako's kick.

The pieces are coming together for the Dolphins and young Katoa showed plenty of promise but they just have these lapses that cost them at pivotal times.

Still, it was a brave performance considering they lost their captain in the opening exchanges, Fuller went off after a fantastic try-saving tackle and even Farnworth went off at a crucial moment in the game.

It was a shame that the night ended on a sour note for Plath. He really typified the resolve for the Dolphins and you can understand why he's become so popular in the NRL fraternity. His effort to reclaim the charge down was just about the play of the night until Rapana stole the show.
