Time to shift focus and look towards the Cowboys this week on Saturday night. Feel like I've said this the last few weeks but once again, this is a massive game for us. If we want to be playing Finals Footy this year then Saturday night is an absolute must-win for us. We'll go in as favourites but it's certainly not going to be easy. Going up to Townsville, playing, and then coming home again is a very tough road trip and we've seen a few teams struggle to do it so let's hope we handle it well. Interestingly, this will be our first ever game at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

North Queensland might be down the ladder and struggling at the moment but I'm certainly not taking them lightly and I hope the boys won't be either. They were absolutely awful yesterday so I have no doubt the bounce back factor will be there. They'll be so fired up to make amends back at home and I have no doubt they'll be better so we need to be on our game here. You only have to look at their game against Canberra a couple of weeks ago to see how good they can be and how much they can lift. We obviously need to contain their mega stars like The Hammer, Morgan and Taumalolo. Once again, they were all poor last night so will be better this week. We need to stop them.

It's going to be an interesting week for as. JD is in charge for the whole week so this will give us a real look into how he is as a coach. We can't let that distract us though, I have full faith in all involved at the club and it has to be a business as usual attitude. We want to see improvement from last weeks good performance too. The completion rate must be just as good (if not better), and I feel like both attack and defence can be better. I'd be targeting Morgan all night in defence and then trying to tire out the likes of Taumalolo in attack. Like I said, it's a must-win game so I really hope we're up for this one.

So a big game once again, we can do this!

Here's my predicted Line Up for Round 14,

1. Mitchell
2. Johnston
3. Graham
4. Gagai
5. Paulo
6. Walker
7. Reynolds (C)
8. Tatola
9. Cook
10. Burgess
11. Su'A
12. Sironen
13. Murray

14. Nicholls
15. Knight
16. Sele/Mago
17. Koloamatangi

Obviously Jaydn returns from suspension so he'll slot straight back into that left edge. Sele is also meant to be back this week so that creates a real bench headache (a good headache to have mind you). Honestly, it's so hard to pick. Hame has been playing that well that I feel if he is fit, he has to come back into the side. The question is, who for? As I said, it's so hard to pick because none of Knight, Mago or Koloamatangi deserve to be dropped, they've been going that well. This is where I feel the coaching staff will be forced to adopt a more obvious selection rotation from week to week to give everyone a fair go and keep some of those bench players fresh. I'm thinking that if Sele is fit, he will most likely come in for Mago.

I feel like a genuine rotation week to week is the only way to do it because those bench guys have been absolutely brilliant thus far.

Not wanting to jinx it, but to me the Cowboys are less of an offensive threat than the Broncos. We shall see....

Agree. They are still struggling from the retirement of Thurston.

Besides Taumalolo as a prop, Holmes on a wing and maybe Hess due to a shortage of quality edge forwards, who would you select to play for Souths from NQ if you could?

NQ players to play for Souths? JT thats about it. I once thought Hess might be worthwhile chasing but I cant believe how soft he has been not only this season but also last, dont know what's wrong him, major disappointment

Rumour up here in NQ is that a few high profile Cows were seen spending a late night at the Casino.

Fox sports is reporting that Murray is gonna play edge, Knight to come in to starting team @ lock, and Siro to the bench.
Looks like Bennett wants to rehash this plan

Coaches Media Round 14: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2020/08/14/jason-demetriou-coaches-media-round-14/

So JD confirms a few changes for tomorrow. Murray shifts to the edge, Knight goes to lock and Sironen moves to the bench. I don't mind this rotation at all. Yes, Cam on the edge didn't work earlier in the Season but a lot has changed since then. We've had a lot of the other forwards really stand up and do great things so it might be time for Cam to shift there. We have also played great the past two games with Murray mostly on an edge which shows it can work, the rest of the pack just has to do their job. Let's hope that continues against the Cowboys tomorrow.

Here we go, it's Game Day!!! This is another massive day for us as tonight is absolutely a must-win. If we want to play Finals Footy this year, then this game against the Cowboys is one that we simply can't afford to drop. I've said the same about other games the past few weeks but that's because they've all been must-win and this one is no different.

I get the feeling that the Cowboys are not going to make it easy for us. We all know what they are capable of when they turn it on. They were way off last week so the bounce back factor will be there for them and I expect them to be much better against us. Michael Morgan won't have two bad games in a row so he is a massive threat for them as are a few of their weapons such as Taumalolo (we all know limiting his impact is so important) and I don't think we should underestimate the return of Scott Drinkwater for them, that'll provide another big threat for us to shut down.

For us, we need to be clinical again and build on last week. During the week leading up to this game, the talk has been about being just as clinical against the Cowboys but upping the intensity and having that killer instinct. That's what I want to see tonight. We certainly need to be on our game. I think the forward battle is the key as they have a pretty decent pack and if our pack can get over theirs, it'll go a long way towards limiting their attacking weapons. It's also a tough road trip today so we can't let that effect us.

So yea, big game! I know the boys can do this!!
