With Nathan Cleary ruled out for Game II, Adam Reynolds has a golden opportunity to reunite with his former South Sydney spine and dramatically resurrect his Origin career. Brisbane fans obviously have mixed emotions over this as they'd rather he'd focus on the club, but he's certainly playing well enough to be in the conversation and he's a better player now than he was in 2016.

Otherwise, it's all about Tyson Gamble. Despite leaving Red Hill, he's a fan favourite and we know we'll have our hands full with him at 6. If a boil over is bound to happen, you can expect him to be at the forefront, either playing a hand or getting in the heads of the Broncos.

Not a lot of team news. Selwyn Cobbo is named to return from his hip pointer injury. Piakura has also kept his place after a promising performance against the Sharks. Fans were upset to see Jensen dropped for the Queensland junior representative, but Pikaura won a few over with his performance.

Cory Paix was absent from Wednesday's training session. There's some speculation that there's been a falling out as Paix was interviewed on SEN earlier this morning and it appeared he was looking forward to training.

Tyson Smoothy trained in his place. If Tyson gets picked, it'll be a long time in the making, he was in the Broncos last ever NYC squad.

I see Tyson Smoothy is now named on the bench. Well deserved - he's been in great form for Wynnum.
That kick close to the line just after he came on was terrible in idea and execution.

Broncos somehow found a way to win. Their ability to hang in during games this season has been impressive.

I thought Newcastle dominated our forwards for most of the match then exploited the edges.

Bronco's last two tries were very exciting and special mention to Hetherington for coming up with some big plays at the end.

Looks like on the way out of the club as well?

That's the story coming from the Mole. Reportedly a few clubs are interested in him and since Paix struggled to get a game it's a natural conclusion to draw.

It would be in his best interest to leave. Paix only just re-signed at the start of the year but with Mozer coming through it's pretty clear that he won't amount to anything more than a bench utility at the Broncos and I think he has the talent to get a better opportunity.

It's difficult to be critical of Kevie because Billy did improve and played a role in their Grand Final appearance, but Paix was never given an opportunity to improve.

I think a club like Parramatta would be a good destination. Players tend to improve under Arthurs and there's an opening there should they come to an agreement.

A spot just opened up at the Dragons with the likely sacking of Amone.

If Hook was still coach, he would have been a Dragon months ago.

No, that's a fair shout. I think it'll come down to where Shane plays his son, Hunt and a couple of other factors.

I could also see Manly as a potential destination as well considering they have Seibold. You'd think they'd have enough on their plate and there maybe a riot if Chan Kum Tong doesn't get an opportunity - but Seibs would be used to that.

I'm still expecting Pride Petterson-Robati to get an opportunity with the Silvertails...
