Round 16 Vs Manly

I don’t know if we were watching the same game, but Merrin and Tamou were two of our best in an overall shitty performance. Merrin kept taking it forward , and Tamou put in a good effort in defence.

We were mostly let down by our backs today. Chricton, Phillips, Peachey and DWZ had shockers, as did Maloney and Cleary. Whare was the only back who was on his game both defensively and offensively. Perhaps that was because he didn’t play and rep football so his preparation wasn’t disrupted.
I watched it. I think you didnt.

Sea Eagles first try came after Trent Merrin made a soft attempted tackle... shit Carty got bagged for. I watched Tamou consistently jog alongside Manly players more concerned with getting back intoghe defensive line than helping make a tackle that needed to be made.

I watched him drop a knee into Walkers face. These guys were no better than our reserve grade benchies.

The less said the better. We're in a slump. Disrupted preparation. It happens. Hope Kikau is OK.

It didn’t look good at all at the ground. He was in serious pain and couldn’t put any weight at all on the leg as he came off.

He also looked like he had been brought back too early in the first place - his knee seemed to be bothering him well before the knock.

Unfortunately the knock was on the front of his knee and pushed it back while Kikau was standing up right. That’s the sort of hit that tears an ACL (and is all the more likely if his medial still isn’t right).

I will hope for the best of course, but I suspect we have lost Kikau for the season, and possibly for most of the pre-season :sob::sob::sob:

I was at the ground, watching from the 50 metre line in bay 27 of the Western Grandstand until the last 5 minutes when I left early out of frustration and disappointment.

I have no views or agenda when it comes to Tamou generally, but he wasn’t our problem today. Neither was Merrin. They were some of the few players in our team who actually went forward and held onto the ball.

Merrin was our worst today.

I was at the ground and it's always tough to pick out individual performers, but I thought our forwards in general were ok with Hetherington and Ellis both having very good games. Our backs were atrocious and the biggest factor in the loss. Only Whare even being remotely passable. We look like a reserve grade team on the edges and Blake can't come back fast enough. Absolutely desperate for Mansour back as well.

I don't want to be too doom and gloom but Kikau going down really makes it feel even more like a season where the footy gods just aren't going to give us a chance. It was extraordinary that we looked decent with so many out. The last two games we've looked more like what you'd expect from a team that's missing over half its starting squad.

on top of our bad performance how bad a look for the club is it when players are injured no stretcher no medi cab. As for the game most points came on the back of our winger making mistake. there must be a center fullback we can bring in to replace them

The 2 in reserve grade would be worth a go at this point.

That was hard to watch. I think injuries, origin etc etc have finally caught up with us. Guys like Crichton & Phillips probably need a break from the constant pressure & intensity of playing first grade.

Every team goes through a rut during the season, hopefully this is ours. In saying that losing Kikau is massive for us.

Happy with the way Whare is looking. Getting back to the player he once was.

I just can’t agree at all. Egans still very raw. Definitely will be a long term first grader but I’d be replacing him with May & giving him some minutes in NSW Cup.

The fact is the team looks a bit sharper. I think Katoa has dropped off while Egan has remained the same. Maybe May would be better I really don't know but something has to happen.

I do think May needs to be somewhere in the 17. His enthusiasm is sorely needed.

Really looking forward to next week's game just to see Luai and May in the halves. Interested to see how they go.
May yes. Luai no.

I dont get the hype on Luai. I think he could be another Will Smith. He looks like a good athlete and nothing more. To me atleast.

Thats only based off maybe 7 or 8 games I have seen him play.
