Agree.
It's mind boggling that Allgood, who hasn't played 1st grade for 5 yrs, is selected ahead of Timm for this game.
Even though some consider Timm "average", Allgood must be considered a poor at the very least.

Timm is the CC competition leader in:
All runs. Allgood not in top 50
Run metres. Allgood not in top 50
PCM. Allgood not in top 50

Timm is also 3rd for total tackles made, with Allgood not in top 50.

Yes, Timm has a few things to work on, but on what basis is Allgood a superior choice for this game other than experience 5yrs ago? Another Maranta reasoning.

Both Timm and Allgood are off contract this year. It doesn't take much imagination to see who they will re-sign or wether one would want to re-sign

So there is absolutely no reward for effort in the lower grades. I wonder what the criteria is then? Does Timm need to do less? Is less more in the eyes of Mary?

Coach challenges Dragons to dominate Storm
  • r0_0_800_600_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

Dragons coach Paul McGregor expects much from his side against the Storm despite Origin absentees.
St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has challenged his young guns to become "dominant players" when they host NRL premierships favourites Melbourne on Thursday.

The teams are without a combined without 11 players due to State of Origin duties, with the playmaking stocks the most severely effected.

The Dragons lose five players, including halves Ben Hunt and Corey Norman, which brings in Jai Field and Darren Nicholls - who have just eight NRL games' experience between them.

They'll also miss NSW trio Tyson Frizell, Paul Vaughan and Tariq Sims, with the latter scratched from Origin on Tuesday after getting a ban at the judiciary.

McGregor said the round 16 clash presented an opportunity for his up-and-coming first graders to leave their mark.

"I'm quite confident. It's a good opportunity for the players. It's their time to put it on the line so to speak," McGregor said.

"It is a challenge upon themselves and a good chance to see, as a coach and as a player, where you stand in these situations.

"If it was me as a young player, I would see it as a great opportunity to lead the way. These guys have now played 30-plus first-grade games.

"They're experienced enough, for this time of year, to be a dominant player, not just a player on the football field.

"So I'd like to see it and they'll want to deliver and they will deliver."

Melbourne are six points clear at the top of the table after riding a six-game winning streak through the Origin period, despite it once again depleting their squad.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy said St George posed a threat and admitted there were several unknowns with so many players missing.

"We've got six in (Origin) and they've got five in, so it changes things around a lot," Bellamy said.

"Having said that they've still got some really experienced players, Cameron McInnes is basically a seasoned campaigner now and I think their centres are terrific players.

"A couple of their forwards have been playing plenty of footy and been around for a long time.

"Both sides are weakened by Origin but they've got some guys who can really step up and play some good footy, so I still think it's going to be a good contest."

Melbourne skipper Cameron Smith will play his record-extending 399th NRL game.

Bellyache's not mucking around, straight left followed up by a right hook.

Mary didnt see those two shots and is in real trouble on the ropes. This could be a real blood bath ladies and gentlemen.

Mary just talks in riddles, and mumbo jumbo + cliches straight out of the physco analysis coaching books he reads and then he confuses himself cause he is not sure what he means.
He tries to be a real mental state of mind coach in analysing his players as if wherever we go wrong it is to do with their state of mind...Mary it is not working..why?

You got to get the basics right in regards to game plans in attack and defense right first before you worry about their mental state.

Forwards - run hard, often with leg drive, look for 2nd phase engaging the line
Backs - support the ball carrier always and play makers run direct engage the line also...holes will appear for the big and fast blokes off your shoulders
Defence - move up in one line with speed together whilst communicating to your mate inside then you can think about sliding. Get the fullback organising the defense from behind the line and wingers to be 1 step back for the kick.....
Last but not least get the back 3 to practice bomb catching under pressure and instruct the other 10 to shadow kick chasers just as other clubs do.

I have had my whinge!...now get in their minds that they can beat the Storm and say it directly In English.

Just wow.

i agree. does my head in ..

What more can a bloke like Timm do
Leads the comp in runs, metres, post contact metres ... Close to the top in decoy runs and tackles ..
Is doing more in reserves than Allgood/Kerr/Latimore ...
He deserves a chance ... not because he is briliant or anything but because effort and results at the level below should be rewarded when opportunties arise.

Plus he has more of a future than some of the other blokes ...

Not picking Timm sends such a bad message to the young blokes coming through and the fringe first graders maybe considering coming to us.

Is there another reason that we are not aware of for these decisions?

Celebrating his first NRL game in 1819 days. Selections like this just do my head in.
Has been training the house down for everyone of those days and just waiting for this day. A career defining moment if ever there was one.
Allgood now going "1" better than Mose Masoe who was another 1 of the top signings for the JV.
