Right, time to dump that game against the Tigers and look towards our next clash as it's another important one. We face off against the Cowboys this week, back at home, back at Stadium Australia. It's another important game this week and it will be a good test for us I feel. Now, normally, I wouldn't say a side outside the eight is a good test but we go into this one without our Origin players as we all know. I'm confident the guys coming in can do a job but it certainly makes this game a bit more difficult and brings us down to their level a little. That's why this game is important. I feel it's be a big win if we could pull it off without five of our best and it'd mean we'd hold onto third spot.

I think North Queensland will actually see this as an opportunity to jag a big win. At full strength, I don't think they beat us but being without Origin players throws it wide open in my opinion. They'll go into this one with a bit of confidence and that can be dangerous. I expect the Cowboys to be pretty fired up too, they haven't been performing well lately and will be desperate to turn that around. So once again, we come up against a side where the bounce back factor is in play. We've seen what they can do when they get it right and turn it on. For a few weeks there, I thought they were looking pretty good and really firming for the top eight, they were playing some good Footy. That hasn't been the case for a few weeks now but all it takes is oe game to turn it around and they'll really want to do that so we must be wary. The key battle is in the forwards this week, they have a pretty strong pack lead by Taumalolo and if we can contain them there, it'll go a long way to getting the result.

For us, I don't want to see us go into this one with a complacent attitude, hopefully missing Trell, Gags, Cookie, Jai and Cam removes that factor. I want to see us come out switched on and ready to make a statement too. It's all about attitude this week in my opinion and we need to get that right. Missing so many players will only be a distraction if we allow it to be and we have to have a 'next man up' mentality. The guys that come in must do a job for us on Friday night and I'm confident they can. I'm actually really excited to see how we go with a completely different side. Of course, it's not going to be the perfect performance but we just need to win. I don't care how, just win. On another note, the second half let us down last week so we need to build on that again, especially with our defence and I'll be looking for an improvement there.

So this is a significant game and a bit of a test for us, I'm really not sure how to feel about it. Let's hope the boys can continue to stand up and get it done. Bring on Friday!!

Decent side despite having 5 players out for rep duty. Really excited to see what Taaffe can do over 80 minutes. His energy during his debut cameo was great. Hopefully Burns can put together a strong 80 and Mamouzelos can get some good minutes too.

Rabbitohs Team List For Round 17: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2021/07/06/rabbitohs-team-list-for-round-17/

A very good side despite missing five of our best. A few unexpected selections there but I can't argue with them and I'm happy with the side. Backline as expected and I can't wait to see Taaffe play a full game at fullback, really keen for that. The forwards are a bit different. Benji starts at Hooker which is okay I guess but I was expecting young Mamouzelos to start. Didn't expect to see Tom named in the starting side either but with Hame moving to lock and Knight staying on the bench, plus the way he's been playing, Tom certainly deserves it. The only selection I'm genuinely surprised by is Su'A straight back into the starting team. I thought he'd come back off the bench and Host would be rewarded but of well, good chance for jaydn to step up. Finally, happy to see mago back in the side on the interchange.

When you look at who we're missing, you've gotta be pretty damn happy with that. Keen for Friday!

Of course they are! Haha. I just think this one is extra important because a win here, especially without or Origin players, would set us up really well for the run home.

Well this is good for our Newcastle based members. Sounds like there will be a 50percent capacity.

We do lose that home ground advantage though. Friday’s weather forecast is meant to be pretty wet as well so any win on Friday will be a great win even if it’s only by 1-2 points.

Bit of a shame to see this game moved, we now lose the official home ground advantage however, it's just what has to happen. Hopefully it doesn't effect us. Awesome for our Newcastle members and fans, and great that we'll get a crowd there!
