i expected this to happen.....ask r20 he knows everyone aint got a clue on here....Shadow...
Our tries were not flukes. Robbie Farah caught the markers napping and Bryson Goodwin utilised some footwork to get past Joseph Manu and score. There is nothing flukey about them. The reason why those tries may appear fortuitous is because there has been a notable introduction of ad-lib play that has been implemented into our game over the last couple of weeks. I'm sure everyone has noticed that we are offloading far more now than when we ever have under Michael Maguire. I believe that this is probably the result of both the playing group and the coaching staff's desire to take advantage of the natural athleticism of a few of our players, most notably Crichton and Walker. Moreover, I think offloading helps our halves bust teams up open up the middle, instead of going wide all the time. They defended their line through multiple onslaughts of 6 tackle sets and we couldn't break it. Both of our tries were flukes really. You're right though we played terribly but we're not a top 4 team I thought that's been apparent for a while.
Every single time we lose a game....ssstid we got too many duds with inglis or without inglis we were never in it FACT!!!People seem to be blind to the facts...Shadow...

Overall, I'm really deflated about tonight's performance. I thought we were easily the better team and it was only our execution that let us down. The same could be said of the Roosters but I thought we bombed a number of potential try scoring opportunities during the game e.g. players getting pushed into touch inside the Roosters red zone etc, knock ons etc. Also, a few fundamental errors really cost us. For example, Braidon Burns not playing the ball properly when were inside the Roosters half and on top was a critical moment in the game. Similarly, the players not being behind Reynolds bomb, which Gordon spilled was also a critical error!!
In terms of positives, I think we have struck a good balanced between structure and ad-lib football in our attack and despite only scoring two tries, I think we asked plenty of questions of the Roosters defence. I've got no doubt that if we attack this way against other teams in the comp (with a bit more execution obviously) then we will get the results we need. I also thought our goal line defence and line speed in general throughout the game was really good. The other thing that stood out for me was the players attitude; whenever we faced a set back or adversity during the game we responded well and sustained our effort throughout the game.
I thought our best player tonight was Robbie Farah. I think he really showed why he is an asset to our team and I actually thought it was a mistake by Madge in taking him off because he was replaced at a period in the game when he was controlling proceedings. Those on this forum who criticise him simply don't understand rugby league or modern hooking play. Adam Reynolds also put in a decent shift even though a couple of his last tackle options were a bit off. One aspect that very few people talk about is his defence; for a little guy he puts his body on the line as much as anyone and makes good defensive reads as well. I think he can well and truly stake a claim to being the best defensive half in the comp! Lastly, Angus Crichton was again magnificent and as I stated above, he is really benefiting from this ad-lib style of football that were using on occasions as it enables him to use both his strength and speed against defenders when they are not set in orthodox defensive positions.
Overall, lets not rip into the team as we put in a fine shift. I think some people on here need to remember that they are South Sydney supporters and should stop taking pot shots at the team at every opportunity that they get.
Every single time we lose a game....
Man didn't JWH have a great game tonight. He was honestly twice as good as our best forward (Crichton). It's insane how many stars the roosters have in their top 17.
I thought Sam had a decent game. He came up with some great players, particularly that offload to Goodwin. That knock on the first tackle came as a result of Jake Friend whacking him across the chin with his forearm and really should have been penalised. In saying that, his stupidity at the end of the game in working over Latrell Mitchell's killed off any chance that we had of winning the game. But it's still been better than some of the form they showed this year. I thought Sam really failed to stand up as a captain tonight. Quite disappointed in both Sam and Sutton.
The mistake we made was that we didn't take the two points even though we were 8-0 behind. I thought it would have really benefited the team more if we had taken the two points after that string of penalties because a) getting off the mark would have settled the team down b) we would have retained possession from the kick off and had another opportunity to make the roosters defend for another set of six and c) it would have put us in a position to take advantage of further Rooster indiscretions by taking more kicks at goal. The Broncos take advantage of the penalty goal because over the course of a game they add up. Moreover, in a tight affair, such as the one tonight, you can't assume that you are going to score.Sorry but when you have goal line defence like that, it is clutch. It's a trait that comes with attitude and you can tell that theyre premiership contenders just from the way they defend. They'll concede 100 penalties if they have too.

I'm not so sure if I agree with that. He had a decent game tonight but I've seen him cost the Roosters, or certainly make things a lot harder for them, through his ill-discipline. He certainly is aggressive and a real powerful runner but he has a tendency to do stupid things and he is one of the main reasons as to why the Roosters have been one of the most penalised teams over the last few years. He really bullied us.
I was about to say JWH is not a player you can judge by stats, he is a player were you can see his impact with his aggression in attack and defence
Even if he only makes 15 tackles and 80 metres you know every tackle would have heart and every metre earnt the hard way
But when i looked at the stats today, 31 tackles, 209 metres, that tells a tale in itself

If you adopt that mentality then you could say the same about the Roosters try. Part of the attacking side of rugby league is catching out defenders or lulling them into thinking that there is no danger imminent. At the end of the day it doesn't matter whether it is by hook or crook we still scored two tries and so did the Roosters. Obviously we lost the game but I don't think you can be too cynical and say that we were 'lucky'.They were more defensive lapses from the roosters than brilliant plays from us. Farah was so close to dropping that ball and keary made a really poor defensive read which he will be slammed for.

A good prop should be giving away a few penalties now and then. It's certainly worked for roosters, they are on their way to their 4th top 4 finish in 5 years.I'm not so sure if I agree with that. Same with the Roosters tries. Bryson and then Fui followed the inside man and let their own assignment waltz in on the outside. Nothing brilliant in either of those. They were more defensive lapses from the roosters than brilliant plays from us. Farah was so close to dropping that ball and keary made a really poor defensive read which he will be slammed for.
