Seems like ages since Super League was the main focus, with stop starts for Challenge Cup and Test Match. Four weeks in a row now until the next break, and only ten rounds to go from here.

Interesting clashes this weekend, one of the least predictable rounds for mine - http://www.leagueunlimited.com/article.php?newsid=14197

Leeds v Bradford
Quins v Hull KR
St Helens v Huddersfield
Catalans v Warrington
Hull FC v Salford
Wakefield v Wigan

Comments, thoughts?

Hull v Salford has been postponed, due to the recent heavy rains, flooding, and predictions for a dire Sunday by the Humber.

Now to be played 29 July, when the Challenge Cup semis are on.

I went Bulls (who won 34-18)

Also:
Quins v Hull KR
St Helens v Huddersfield
Catalans v Warrington
Hull FC v Salford
Wakefield v Wigan

They seem to be common tips, only 2 people in my comp have any games different (1 went Leeds & Wire, the other went Wire)

Hi Jed
what was the atmosphere like ?
I suppose it would've been better than it was with a Leeds victory.

It that your first experience of English footy ?

Been to a few games - Wakefield vs Bulls in 2005, Giants vs Cas, Bulls vs Wire, Quins vs Bulls, and Bulls vs Cas (all in 2006). This year I'm stuck in Oz, I've had to save all my annual leave for going back for my wedding next April over in Bradford. Alhough I'll be there for a month, should get to at least 3 games, more if I go to a non-Bulls game.

I actually meant that I went for the Bulls (as in tipped them)

I went out to Quins vs KR. Not a bad match and a great turnout from the Hull KR fans, who probably brought about 700 down to London.

I was impressed by the 2 young London born and bread lads, Worringcy and McCarthy-Scarsbrook. Worringcy looks very raw, with the physical aspects to be a good player. Whilst, McCarthy Scarsbrook, look very agile for a prop. He scored a great try at the end where he actually swerved around the fullback showing great pace. Both look good prospects. With Joe Mbu also playing, that meant there were 3 London born and bread players out there.

I was surprised Quins won actually Al with all their injuries, Melling, Orr, Purdham and Mills have been their best all year and were all out plus Daniel Heckenberg who has been solid is out for the year.

That is great. I had no idea those boys were from London.

Great crowd at Headingley, Bradford must of been awesome.

Ditto Saints last night. I nearly fell of my chair when I saw that score.

Good to see Catalans get the points as well, that one sounded like a good game.

I watched the second half, after finally finding a pub in Shepherds Bush with it on. Huddersfield's defence was terrible, the Saints trys were too easy in my opinion. I was very disappointed in a side that had been playing so well and looked ok on paper, and i think their coach was also.

Great win by Wakey, great crowd too (I assume a lot of Wigan fans made the trek). John Kear is a genius. In my opinion Wakefield do not have a top 6 side but I think they'll get there.

Great to hear you've found your rugby league in London Ali.

Some strange results there... and this week will see the announcement of the three clubs that have reportedly broken the salary cap last season, and may be subject to deduction of points!

Stay tuned... rumours in print this week suggest Wigan, Bradford and St Helens.

Won't know until Friday but the suggestion is St Helens' is minor and will just be a fine, Wigan have and excuse they are going to argue over the next few weeks, but along with Bradford they were docked two points last season for salary cap infringement, and could be staring at between 4-12 point deduction.

It should be noted that the salary cap system is different in England, and is calculated in retrospect in relation to turnovers reported in club's annual reports in the middle of the year after. It can be hard for clubs to guess how things will fall and plan accordingly, but it is the same rules for everyone and some clubs choose to push this to the very limit and will fall foul.

This system will change for next year, and match the Australian system where signings and transfers have to be verified as under the cap before they can take place...
