Roosters announce venue update for Rounds 2 and 18

The Sydney Roosters have today announced a change of venue for the Club’s Round 2 and Round 18 fixtures.

The Round 18 Roosters home game against the St George Illawarra Dragons match which was initially announced to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has been relocated to Central Coast Stadium due to venue availability.

Consequently, the Roosters’ Round 2 game against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles which was originally scheduled to be played at Central Coast Stadium will now be played at the SCG.

This change will now see the following amendments to our 2022 draw:
  • Our Round 2 match originally scheduled to be played against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at Central Coast Stadium will be relocated to the Sydney Cricket Ground;
  • Our Round 18 match originally scheduled to be played against the St George Illawarra Dragons at the Sydney Cricket Ground will be relocated to Central Coast Stadium.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR NON TICKETED MEMBERS?

This means that you, as a non ticketed Member, will still have access to one (1) SCG home game in 2022.

Whilst we understand that this amendment may force you to adjust your match attendance plans for 2022, we are excited to be able to bring a a high-quality match featuring two Sydney teams to the SCG, and to host a big club like the St George Illawarra Dragons at Central Coast Stadium.

For clarity, you have access one (1) SCG home game of your choice in 2022, not including our Round 18 match at Central Coast Stadium. The full home fixture can be seen below:
  • Round 1 v Newcastle Knights at the SCG (3:00pm Saturday 12 March)
  • Round 2 v Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at the SCG (8:05pm Friday 18 March)
  • Round 6 v NZ Warriors at the SCG (2:00pm Sunday 17 April)
  • Round 11 v Penrith Panthers at the SCG (7:35pm Saturday 21 May)
  • Round 14 v Melbourne Storm at the SCG* (5:30pm Saturday 11 June)
  • Round 18 v St George Illawarra Dragons at Central Coast Stadium (3:00pm Saturday 16 July)
  • Round 21 v Brisbane Broncos at the SCG* (7:50pm Thursday 4 August)
  • Round 22 v North Queensland Cowboys at the SCG* (3:00pm Saturday 13 August)
  • Round 23 v Wests Tigers at the SCG* (7:35pm Saturday 20 August)
  • Round 25 v South Sydney Rabbitohs at TBA (7:55pm Friday 2 September)

*Round 14, 21, 22, and 23 at the Sydney Cricket Ground are subject to venue availability and are subject to change.

Not sure the exact reason for this but Saturday 3PM makes much more sense for a CC game than Friday night. It gives Sydney based fans of both teams a chance to get up there. I remember we played sharks in that slot in 2017 and it was a sell out.
