What changes would you be making to the side for Round 2 vs Canberra?

1. Wesser, 2. Gordon (if fit)/Daniella, 3. Jennings, 4. Blair, 5. Rooney, 6. Tighe, 7. Sammut, 8. Civoniceiva, 9. Aiton, 10. Woolnough (last chance), 11. Waterhouse, 12. Pritchard (last chance), 13. Lewis (if fit)/Smith

14. F.Puletua, 15. Maivia , 16. Bell, 17. Iosefa

Dropped to NSW Cup:
- Luke Priddis (Hurts me to do it...but he was bloody ordinary)
- Tony Puletua
- Joe Williams
- Nathan Smith
- Brendan Worth

Maivia should be kept away from first grade.

Looked ordinary with 12 interchanges a few years ago and 10 would kill him.

I'd play Tony Puletua at prop for his last chance.

1. Rhys Wesser
2. Michael Gordon (Daniela backup)
3. Michael Jennings
4. Brad Tighe
5. Luke Rooney
6. Luke Lewis (McCrone backup)
7. Jarrod Sammut
8. Adam Woolnough
9. Luke Priddis
10. Petero Civoniceva
11. Trent Waterhouse
12. Matthew Bell
13. Maurice Blair (Smith backup)

14. Frank Puletua
15. Tony Puletua (front row)
16. Frank Pritchard
17. Masada Iosefa

T and Peanuts to be used for impact, if they fail to deliver drop them altogether IMO. I'd also give Priddis one last chance.

Did anyone go and watch the NSW Cup side ??
Before you go making wholesale changes you might need a copy of that game as they were just as ordinary as the 1st grade.
Josh MccRONE WAS BOUGHT TO PLAY FIRST GRADE maybe Matty Elliot may have to be moved on(as he brought him here) as he was terrible not up to NSW Cup let alone NRL.

I feel sorry for coaches as they are the ones that cop it when it is the players who miss tackles , drop balls etc.
It is hard to make changes if you don't have anyone better in the lower grades.

Tighe is not a 5/8, he is barely a centre. In fact im not sure why you guys bought him at all given he showed only one sign in his career of being able to beat another player. Im giving your coach 8 weeks then he will be out of a job. That team against the broncos was laughable.

Brad Tighe had a very solid game against the Broncos. He isn't as good as Jennings, but i think he is better then Blair.

Greg Alexander hopefully.

Seriously...does anyone find it a coincidence that the last year Matt Adamson was at the club...we got the spoon...and now he is here as an assistant as of last year and he's provided the same influence.

As far as i'm concerned...get rid of him.

I'll third that re: Adamson.

Greg Alexander would be a great coach, but would he want to do it?

I think former legends like him should be more involved with the club, just in relation to instilling in them what it means to play for Penrith. I understand we do it for debutants (with former players presenting the jerseys), but perhaps it should be done more often. I know it would be relatively superficial, but start introducing a number system, like the Australian cricket team... if they wore a jersey that had their number on it, it may instil a bit more pride in the jersey.

There's just too many passengers out there at the moment - I want people who want to die for the Panthers. Not all 17 players out there yesterday had that attitude.

TBH I don't think we'll see too many changes maybe Blaire or Tighe will be moved to make for jennings to go back where he should be. I can't see J williams being there but other than that I expect essentially the same blokes to be running around next week.

It's the Penrith way!

All i can say is it's only the first game of the comp u have to let things gel together and give them a go..
I honestly think waterhouse didn't have a good game too much trying to pass off the ball and it not happening and ended up in brisbane scoring trys..
But will see what elliot does this week..
I'm no expert and wouldn't want to be in his boots

I cant see Brandy giving up all his media commitments at the moment.

But he would make a great future coach IMO.

on the team , I would like to see Josh McCrone given a go. Probably a sammut/Mccrone halves combo.

No changes for mine.

Matt Ellliot believed the selected side against the Broncos was his best seventeen and I am more than happy taking the same side into the game against the Raiders.

I have been told from the horses mouth, one of the first grade players that he feels like he needs to take a notebook and pen to training.

Elliot has clearly over complicated things and the players are in disarray.

I agree with previous posters that T Puletua needs to be stuck in the front row and told to make metres and leave the wide running to the likes of Jennings, Tighe and Blair.

Right from the word go, the Bronco forwards were getting over the advantage line better than us, and we continued to give away stupid penalties. We need to get some discipline back into the side.

There is a lot of talent in that u/20's side and I can see a couple of them in the 17 very very soon.

Elliot needs to employ the KIS principle and maybe they need to look at some individual coaching ala A. Johns with Brett Finch with a young bloke like Masada and groom him to slot into 5/8th or a ball playing lock in a similar mould to Jason Smith and Jim Dymock?

I'd put any number of the 20's up on talent & enthusiasm alone, but you don't want to be blooding a stack of youngsters into a losing team straight away, they pick up bad habits & it is a MASSIVE step up.

Theoharous is too small, Tia Kilifi has questionable hands. Masada is up for it, but where to play him? He gets to run the show in the 20's. In first grade he wouldbe playing some sort of over coached roll.

Elliotts structure is the problem. Let the seasoned blokes sort it out before bringing too many young guys in like lambs to the slaughter.
