I reckon that BA would pull a smokey a) to avoid the media attention on a debut and b) to avoid the media whinging that Hayne might be injured - again.

Na I reckon a) is more likely. B) helps in contract negotiations. Alternatively it could be that we just don't have any other available outside backs in squad, i.e Louganis isn't top 30. Alternatively he is top 30 and BA doesn't want to play him ahead of Taka
