After watching the replay, here's my full report,
Mitchell: It's crazy, I've seen some people say he had a bit of a quiet game yet he was still one of our best. I somewhat agree that he probably wasn't as involved in the first half yet he still came up with some freakish touches. Made a barnstorming linebreak, a few other half breaks and was chiming into the backline well as he looked dangerous. His try to open our account for the day was fantastic, a great line run off Cookie and then it was all poer and agility. he became more involved in the second half and had some more freakish touches. The highlights were his try saver on Fifita, that 60 meter run he had that gave me flashbacks to GI and then the incredible play for the last try of the game, that was freakish, a bit of magic. Amazing game Trell! If that's him on a quiet day, the rest of our contenders should be very concerned.
Mansour: Sauce had a very strong game. A powerful running game as always on both hit ups and the kick returns which saw him pick up 155 meters which is great. Good positional play, didn't drop any bombs, didn't put a foot wrong in defence and provided two great finishes on the end of the backline for two more tries. I've been really impressed by Sauce the past few weeks and while it may not be ennought to keep him in the 17, he should still be very proud of his efforts stepping in for AJ.
Burns: Back into the side and capped off an awesome week for him with an awesome performance. He was heavily involved all day as he constantly went looking for work which was good to see. Had some really strong runs too for 118 off 12 runs. looked pretty dangerous attacking the Titans line, great footwork all day. He was rewarded for his efforts with two really nice tries while he came so close to scoring a third. Almost had a try assist too, I think he was pretty hard done by to have his 'kick' for Latrell disallowed in the second half. I enjoyed his defensive work as well, helped to do a really good job on Fifita while he was on.
Milne: Another mixed performance for mine. With the ball he was really good, no issues what so ever there. However, it's without the ball that he leaves plenty of room for improvement. Again yesterday, he was all over the show in defence. Had one great read to shut down a play when Jaxson was down injured but that was it. Other than that, he was rushing in when he didn't need to and this created huge holes. There was about three or four Titans lin breaks that came as a direct result of his mis-reads. With no disrespect to the Gold Coast, the better sides would have made us pay for that. Taane did a great job on the wing but I'm not sure if centre is his go. Looking forward to getting Campbell back.
Paulo: Jaxson id finally building really well and yet again, he was quite good yesterday. Strong hit ups coming out of our end and unlike some other games in the past, he wasn't afraid to get in and do the dirty work so I was quite happy with his involvement. Despite having Taane a bit shakey inside him, Jaxson did his job on 'D,' even coming up with some really good plays there. The best was his try saver on Peachey in the second half where he came from nowhere to stop him meters from the line. On top of this, he cleaned up every kick that came his way. Keep it up!!
Walker: Well what is there to say? Seriously, our man just keeps on getting better and better, and you can add the Gold Coast Titans to the list of teams he has torn apart. Cody was brilliant yesterday, certainly one of our best! He just sums up every situation so bloody well and that was on show once again yesterday arvo. looked so dangerous on both sides of the field, it was clear the Titans just had no idea how to defend him. He varied his plays so well again. Cut out passes, short passes, running himself, it was all there. 3 brilliant try assists and 3 line break assists shows just how brilliant his playmaking was. He has now become the first man ever to notch up 50 line break assists in a Season and he may be on track (barring injury) to break the record for the most try assists in a Season. Incredible stuff. His kicking game was superb, constantly kicking for that left corner to come up with forced drop outs or at worst, have their back three back peddling and pinned on their line. His defence was exceptional too, did such a good job on Fifita as he constantly chopped him down and kept him quiet. Amazing stuff Cody!
Reynolds: Another very good game from Reyno too. His play playing was also on point, combining beautifully with Cody to have a hand in a few of our tries. Also scored one himself, what a pick up with the one hand that was! Apart form kicking one dead, he otherwise had the ball on a string off the boot and his goal kicking was pretty good. Defence for Adam did leave a little to be desired for me though. Yes, it was mostly Taane at fault but I think Reyno's poor reads contributed to some of their line breaks.
Nicholls: Another awesome performance from the GOAT! man, he was so good to start the game and just carried it on. Such strong carries one after another and he just kept going and going. Was a huge reason for our early dominance and then helped to maintain that in the second stint. 138 meters off 12 runs and then 24 tackles with only one missed. Very solid.
Cook: Another week where Cookie didn't really star but it's another week where I'm happy for him not to. he still had a really good game. The highlight was his play for Latrell's try, some good deception there as he dummied, dropped Trell under and then the rest was history. All the other areas of his game were polished like his service and his defence which is always top notch. Still had a few darts when the opportunity presented itself although I'd still like to see him pin his ears back and go for it a bit more.
Burgess: Well played Tommy! I probably wouldn't call it a barnstorming game but he certainly maintained his good form as he just executed his roll with little fuss. Plenty of powerful carries followed by quick play-the-balls and he cracked the 100 meters which is what you want from your starting front rower. As I said, well played Tommy!
Koloamatangi: Sort of like Tom, Keaon didn't particularly stand out in this game so I don't have a lot to say but that's not to say he had a bad game. In fact, he was very good. Still heavily involved with those strong carries of his and he constantly kept those legs pumping to fight for every meter. Went about his business and still picked up 145 meters which is huge!
Arrow: Has potentially just played his best game in the Red and Green (or should I say Pink and Green?). He was enourmous while he was out there, taking the Gold Coast pack head on and showed a great motor as he didn't stop. just kept going and going. 146 meters he got which is fantastic. No errors, good defence and I really liked his decoy work down that left edge. On top of this, I reckon he was robbed of that try! A good afternoon from Jai.
Murray: Speaking of good afternoons, Cam was very good as always. No fuss, executed his role to perfection. It probably wasn't his most outstanding game but the Titans pack clearly still found it pretty hard to handle him. He was heavily involved with both hit ups and our shifts as he was often at first reciver and put on some really nice plays. As always, did a great job with the clean up in defence and managed to force a couple of errors through that too. Great stuff Cam!
Marshall: Wayne gave him more minutes and he played out there in the centres once again. Did a good job. Not too much to write home about but he plugged a hole. Came up with some nice plays including almost putting Cam over and then had a hand in Sauce's second try. Was happy with his defence too.
Host: Another great game, man I'm starting to really love this guy, what a great signing! Provided awesome impact once again off the bench and executed his role to perfection. Ran some really good lines and had some strong carries for his fair share of meters (92). Once again, he came out on top in the battle against Fifita. A lot of players can't say the same so Hosty deserves a massive wrap for that.
Tatola: Probably not as good as last week but still very good none the less. In fact, he was one of our best forwards. Came on and provided aggression and power to maintain the rage. Got through plenty of work and his runs were all quality to pick up 200 mters which is a massive effort off the bench! Even managed to come up with an offload or two. Will be disappointed with the couple of errors he made though. Still, well done Junior!
Su'A: It's a real shame. A few weeks ago, Jaydn had a couple of massive games, two really good games in a row and I started to think he was back with a bang. However, he seems to have really gone off the boil yet again. Again yesterday, provided minimal impact and I hardly have anything to comment. With Sele returning, I think he'll find himself out of the side.
Pretty in Pink for Women in League Round!!! Pretty comprehensive game but there's always things to work on I think we all can agree. The big test comes next week.
