Round 25 v Manly

Latimore gone for a week for that "crusher" tackle. Surely Sam Anderson has to come in now. Also hopefully Seg is keen to play and coming from a football family I'm pretty confident that he will.

Have they taken the early plea? I would think it would be fought. Ivan comments after the game doesn't make me confident Seg will be back.

I don't mind that side grifter, but we all know Ivan isn't one for wholesale changes. If simmo is fit, he will come in for DWZ, Sammy Anderson should be there for lats, and Chicko will come in for Kingston if he feels up to playing. I agree tho, that we need to drop docker. I'd go with:

1 Moylan
2 Mansour
3 whare
4 idris
5 DWZ/Simmo
6 smith (although I'd love to see someone else there, maybe moyza with DWZ at the back)
7 soward
8 mckendry
9 Chicko
10 plummy
11 sika
12 Robinson
13 brown

14 Sam Anderson
15 Timmy g
16 Yeo
17 BMM

With kevvie 18th man

I was all for 1.DWZ 6.Moylan earlier in the year but the time for that has came and passed. We need to stick with what we have been doing for the finals imo

Hopefully those on here who were asking for Kingston to be brought back in and Segeyaro to be used as impact of the bench three or four weeks back (because he provides starch, apparently) have quietly discarded that insane idea. I have no problem with him coming in to replace Segeyaro when he can't play at all, but to voluntarily do so is insane. Hopefully last night was enough evidence of that.

Docker isn't good enough to be our starting lock, and thankfully he shouldn't be next year with Taylor, Cartwright, and Peachey all back. And if he doesn't start, he doesn't play, because he has zero impact off the bench. As I said in the match thread, it's like many of our fans develop amnesia the second he lands a big hit, forgetting all the dross he delivers around those. You don't win games on one person's big hits, you win it by defending as a unit, not making dumb mistakes, getting go forward out of your own half, and having enough skill and technique to make things happen. Docker is 1 from 4 there.

I've reserved judgement on Smith because he's new to first grade, but for me he doesn't offer nearly enough as a 6. He might go alright in centers. Moylan is being suggested as the next cab off the rank at 6, but I think he needs to work on his kicking game a lot more. It's very inconsistent at the moment.

Luckily, these three issues are all due to injury rather than coach selection (well, except maybe for Docker, who Cleary apparently seems to rate), so I guess we just have to play harder and smarter to compensate.

Docker needs to do some video sessions on the master of the big hit. Plummy pulls it off without the dumb penalties or rushing out of the line. If Docker would just take the opportunity for the big hit when it presents itself & just concentrate on making the tackles he would be better for it. Not every tackle needs to be a bell ringer.

His attack, well probably the less said the better.

He will need some serious work in the offseason to nail a spot next year.

Yep. Next time I am asked why the Docker hate... Last nights game will give me plenty of ammo as to why. Not really hate but why I don't rate him.

Yeo might be back for the finals. Lower grades of course

I don't recall too many calling for Kingston to push Segeyaro out of the run-on side since the latter became the starting hooker. What was suggested by some (and I was one of them) was considering our injury situation to use Kingston in the pack as a tackling machine, something he did a goodly amount of last night. It's pretty well accepted by all that Kevvy is no attacking weapon. I'm hoping we get Segs back sooner rather than later.

Yeah Docker could be a handy first grader if he puts on 10kgs and works on his game in NSW cup

He doesn't need to be big to improve his tackling technique and learn to run into gaps etc. Yeah an off-season and start the year in NSW Cup and go from there

I think there was one comment from someone suggesting we bring kingston back.

Kingston has 4 wins and 5 losses with us in first grade. Form line being WLWLWLWLL.

Segeyaro has won 10 from 13 as starting hooker. Form line being WWWWWLWWLLWWW.

There's a massive difference with Segeyaro at hooker. Kingston has been great for our club, but hasn't been a good first grade hooker since 2012.

His Dad just died. That's more important than a couple of f**king football games. I doubt IC would take advantage of the death to "play games".

Not what I meant at all, apologies if it came off that way.

I'm sure the situation hasn't been decided at all, and Ivan, always the conservative, names Kingston to be on the safe side. If its a possibility, he's still going to hold his cards close to his chest.

Of course family is more important than football, come off it.
