Hi everyone, let’s keep our feet on the ground.

At times the Sea Eagles were really pushing us back and offloaded well.

In this whole thread no one has mentioned Brayden Williame. My posts last year after his signing were positive. I noted that he would go well back in Australia. Got into his first trial match and looked very dangerous in attack for us. For whatever reason was dropped and then plagued by a recurring calf tear during 2020. A frustrating injury to beat.

Anyway, Hook takes over against all the naysayers and Brayden is promoted to 1st grade over a number of others. Tonight hit the gap off Bird, punched through and crashed into Walker and over he went.

No he isn’t a top liner but he has dash, awareness of hole running and strength through tackles. If he stays healthy he will be around the top 17 during the season. Let’s give him credit.

I’d love to give the guy credit..

But let’s face it, as you said he beat Dylan Walker to score..

Congrats to the the entire team. Pretty good looking spine with some promising forwards coming a bit from left field. Newcastle will be just the challenge we need next week and there's no reason why we can't compete for the 2 points well and truly.

Special mention to Corey Norman. Certainly playing like a man after a contract.

We can all say well
and truely now that we have a top line
2,3,4,5,7, 9, 10, 11,12
I’ve left out
1,6,8,13 as I want to see real consistency .. but we are getting there .
Thank you Hook!!

Another one that was overhyped as a solution to our problems..

I haven’t seen that guy string 2 good games together..
Haven’t seen him one good game. He belongs at Manly. Why Manly aren’t playing the youngest Trbojevic brother yet is beyond me. He’s a gun.

Norman bombed a certain try & conceded a try off a soft dropped ball. Cost us 12 points.

Norman is a long way off proving anything, Manly didn’t challenge our kickers so sitting back kicking accurately with no pressure doesn’t impress anyone.

Hunt on the other hand was inspirational, playing on injured really set an example.

Norman is a useless marshmallow can’t wait to see the back of him so Sullivan can take over.

There were a couple of times in the game that I think players moved away from Ravas side as he was coming for them

I really enjoy the way that he lines those players up for the tackle , akin to a torpedo striking the hull of a ship - periscope up - mark - fire tube 1 - BANG ! ! !

The crowd goes wild while the poor sod on the ground is
trying to work out if he is at Disneyland or Luna Park .

The Bird / Ramsey and Lomax / Ravalawa combinations are improving every game, our halves are finally clicking with Hunt leading the team well. Hook was dead set instant on bringing McCullough to the Dragons (with McInnes here or not) and has been proved right a McCullough has made a vast improvement in the control of the ruck. The forwards are beginning to fire and finally earning their keep. If we sign Fifita for 2021/2022 and he also buys into the Griffin way, we will be knocking on the door for a top 4 position.

What a huge difference to the Mary era. I'm looking forward to the game against the Knights on Easter Sunday very much.

I can’t see top 4 just yet after beating Manly and the Cowboys, two bottom 4 sides. Top 8 is a realistic possibility though especially given the disaster the Rorters copped last night (wouldn’t wish it on any team). The Knights is a vital mid tier game we should be just about ready to give a good shake at.

I like the way we are not panicking in games. Prior to the game everyone was sprucing how much Manly had to prove and not to take them lightly...etc etc ; and Manly were actually moving up very quickly in defence, particularly when we were bringing it back from our own line. But we didn’t panic and cleaver dummy half and the strong kicking game from both our halves ensured we got better field position and defensively put pressure back on Manly. No way this “style under pressure” was evident in the last few years and this mindset appears to be growing weekly. Great to see. Actually looking forward to the Newcastle game now.

It is great to win, especially against Manly, but the style of football being played and the obvious team spirit could be very attractive to elite players considering a change of club at the end of 2021.
Agree 100%. With McCullough giving his forwards room to move with great passes from the ruck, I expect a lot more good forwards will be having a second look at coming to the Red V. We're no longer the career killers that we were under Mary.
