Cartwright has been pretty underhwelming so far, I think it's becoming tough to carry both him and Peachey in the side given their lack of go forward

I agree Bryce need a few games in the NSW Cup to build up some confidence.

I would leave Peachy in the seventeen for the moment each if he too hasn't been in top form.

Swapping them for Lewis Brown and Sika Manu probably would help our go forward.

Brown, Docker, BMM are all unavailable doesn't leave many options. Atleast at Prop we have Anderson & can start RCG/Plum to get go forward

Manu of 2010 of course. He's form has dropped aswell. Cartwright's a ball playing forward. Yeo a defensive player neither's in the side to make plenty of metres.

In every team after a stoppage your props take the 1st 2 hitups. Most can get 20m off those 2. We have been getting around 12m then a slow play the ball puts on the back foot.

So IMO our starting props need to ave 100m a game which isn't happening. Has McKendry, Latimore or Kite made 100m this year? Aside from Taylor & RCG the whole pack has been soft. The props should go down also.

I agree with all you said, but to answer your question

I posted this on the Merrin thread. Average so far this season.

I agree mate, I understand that Cartwright isn't in the team to make metres, however while we are struggling its tough to carry two similar backrowers that don't make many metres.

Yeo and Cartwright while playing average are certainly nothing on the cobsistent tripe that Manu, Mckendry and Kite have trotted out for a long time now. I wouldn't be against dropping Carty for a few games maybe if BMIis back next week but hopefully those senior players are getting just as much of a spray.

Metres gained can be deceptive, particularly given the front rowers traditionally take the hit up of the kick off and that can be 15 metres in itself.

I think you just get a feel for our go forward from watching the game and you can see some of our forwards are struggling a touch.

From watching the game live on Monday night only RCG stood out and that was nothing to do with checking any stats on NRL.com after the game. It was just obvious he was putting in.

We miss Lewis Brown who just somehow eats up metres and is hard to bring down each hit up. He is a loss, because he goes forward.

Anyway this Saturday night is our chance to turn things around, so here's hoping without a lot of confidence.

Given his injury layoff he should of started in NSW Cup so I am fine with him going.

My point is it's more then just them. McKendry & Manu should also join them those above figures prove that.

I'm not critical of Bryce. He just needs to find some confidence that maybe the NSW Cup will bring.

We are struggling with injuries and form and at the end of the day without Jamie Soward we are always going to struggle.

The 17 this week need to step up and deliver a positive result, two points. The performance not so important just the result.

I'm concerned that Sam's neck injury has made a permanent reduction to his mobility. Not his fault, poor sod could have been crippled. The fact is though, he is not really a very good prop right now and was average last season as well. Latimore and RCG have been our best props so far.

Manu has also been poor for at least a season. I'm not so concerned about him, we have a few good back rowers coming through.

Cartwright is still feeling his way back after major surgery, likewise Peachy. I thought Peachy was awful against the Cowboys. He crabbed all the time and made little impact. Cartwright did at least take the ball forward straight, although his offload was well smothered by the Cowboys.

I think that is a fair point about Bryce. He had major surgery and I know what its like to break a leg, it hurts like hell when you start playing again. It took a good six months before I would stop limping after a game because it ached so much. I'm impressed he has gone as well as he has. He will get better once he gets confidence in his leg again.

It might just be confidence thing. A fortnight in NSW Cup will fix that up. Remember 10 of our 17 that played on Monday night had limited or no pre-season. A few are showing the affects. DWZ, Idris and Taylor are showing no affects....The rest though can do with some time getting friendly with Brennan

Obviously our go forward needs to improve but the leaky defence is my main concern. Against the Roosters, Knights and Cowboys we had plenty of ball in attacking areas and even created try scoring oppurtunities only to be held up or let down by the video ref or our own execution.

IMO the real concern in that the Knights scored 3 tries off theire first 3 cracks at our try line and the Cowboys aswell found it easy once they got down there initially, if we cant fix that very fast we will continue to lose.

I've never been a fan of over analysing statistics.

One of my mates lives and breathes by stats, and stas alone.

They give an indication of how a player is going, but don't tell the true story. As Kilkenny said. A prop gets to run back the kickoff, which is a gift 20 metres to their stats.

We really miss Lewis Brown. He was in my top 4 every time he played. Probably the most under rated player in the game.

I also think we miss Docker's aggression in defence. Sure he makes a few mistakes, but he softens up the opposition pack which is something we are missing this year.

That's why you don't compare props to say halves. you can compare props to other props. Using your kickoff example our starters are averaging 78m and 82m. Assume they take 1 kickoff each that's 58 and 62m for the general play. which is the lowest by far of the props

I'm beginning to agree with this, I was feeling that Docker was overrated last year but he adds a toughness to our pack that we are lacking at the moment. Too much finesse, not enough grunt and intimidation

Why is Taylor escaping criticism here? His impact with ball in hand is the worst of the lot here.

The trouble is, he has absolutely zero intimidation factor with ball in hand. He's a pussy cat when asked to run the ball, and we can't afford to carry that in a side that already lacks go forward.
