Good win considering. John and Api did well, Johns kicking game in particular was good. Plum shoqing the value of a big hitter, he really stiffened up our D through the middle. And good on Mansour for bouncing back. Moylan is playing well but those errors are starting to let him down and id still like to see him back himself a bit more with the ball.

Oh and it was awesome to see Waqa back up his try with 3 back to back tackles to really get us on the front foot, thats a big effort. And our defence held up a lot better, tested with repeat sets a few times and only the classy kicking of their halves bothered us.

John was good in defence and really good with the ball in hand. His kicking game was ok but he couldn't help but continually kick it to manlys fullback

John's kicks were mostly pinning Manly inside their 10 meters.

It was a mighty defensive effort that won this game for the Panthers.

Some observations from the game:

Peachey - Brilliant one minute and then dumb stuff the next (like getting dragged into touch on tackle 1). Too inconsistent for mine to be talked about in the revered tones that he is. However, he did make 29 tackles so he at least worked hard.

Moylan - His passing is just brilliant to watch and so effective. But his kick returns are very average and the reason he will never be an upper echelon fullback. If he can develop a kicking game, he could be a rep class 5/8th though. He sees more space and gaps in defence in a game than Luke Walsh does in an entire season. Lovely to watch.

DZW - makes mistakes because he is still learning, but he has a lot of ticker and doesn't let people push him around. I love the way he fights back even if he cost us penalties sometimes. If only our forwards had as much aggro.

Segyaro - Why has he stopped running from dummy half? I kept expecting him to run and he just seemed to be playing within himself.

The forwards - I am not singling out a forward because they were all very poor. Jeremy Latimore almost gets a pass with 80m and 19 tackles, but really, they were powder puffs. Plum still isn't match fit yet and their were glimmers of his old self with a few solid hits, but he made only 68m. Our forwards are soft and need a talking to by somebody like MG or Peter Kelly. Toughen up princesses!

Having said all that, the referees allowed both sides to lay all over each other. There was one tackle on DZW were the Manly player was on top so long I thought he was unconscious. Metres were hard to come by for both teams leading to a tough arm wrestle and a number of injuries.

We were at least enthusiastic in defence and the new halves showed that they may be able to deliver given enough time together.

Yeah we need to get some go forward ut the forqards did have a real crack in defence which did the job. Peachey looks like he is close to some really strong form. We are definitely out of form but any games we win with the injury toll we have is golden.

I agree with the rest of your assessment, but think Peachey going into touch wasnt such a bad thing. It chewed up a bit of time & there was no way Manly could come back from that point. He got my MoM based on effort on effort, not everything worked, but he played his guts out I thought.

Easy game next week will help for sure

Titans did very well to annihilate the Eels at Parra park.

We'll be playing a side that has a renewed confidence.Should be one of the matches of the round.

Hopefully Idris and ET are O.K. by then.

Peachey will come good. He did two great things about then f**ked them up (running into touch and a shitty pass to DWZ after his huge line break). He seems like he's just still returning to form.

Peachey also threw the great short ball to put Blake through. The into touch was a penalty more often than not so I wont blame that for him.

Peachey was mostly brilliant. Not just attack, he was strong in defence, I think he forced an error or two with good hits and got through some work as well.

I blew up when him and Dallin bombed that try, same as Moylan and Seggy, both instances were brilliant individual efforts let down by a lack of composure. Clean line breaks like that should end in a try or a player being tackled unless its the last. A quick play the ball with a defensive line still getting onside will lead to a try a lot.

Those bombed tries were a result of poor positioning.

20/20 will tell you that Peachy could have thrown a dummy and gone himself.

The other bombed try was harder to take as a supporter.

The players will address these issues during the week, and hopefully will learn from them.

Idris has done an ACL - out for the season now.

Looks like Blake and Whare will be our centres for the rest of the year.

Someone needs to fill in for him. Jamal made great busting meters. His tackle breaks were massive and he comes up with great hits in defence. It's amazing that he was running fine after it on the sideline I thought it was nothing,
