I will always look for positives I was there for the WHOLE game when Manly beat us 70/7 in I think 1973. Dave Irvine scored a great try for Penrith who lost it when Dennis Tutty got injured, Those of us who supported and went to home AND away games in the early years really appreciate the good times. Im sure others do too. Its not about what has happened its how you RESPOND to it that matters!!!!!!!!

I see the toxic positivity is back. Well the team had a bad game 50 years ago that someone went to see so that makes them a real fan. Piss off. Nothing justifies going 1 - 5 with the way they've played and no fan of any team should accept that. The team themselves shouldn't accept that.

Edwards kicking to one of the fastest players in the game instead of a simple draw and pass is unforgivable. He also butchered multiple overlaps.

The edge and goal line defence is unforgivable.

Cleary has been alright he just looks under too much pressure to do it all and carry the team similar to Yeo who's getting worn down by it.

They look like they haven't trained at all which is on Ivan. They're unfit and disorganised. I'd expect it to turn around and at least look like an nrl team even when they lose but each week it doesn't happen they've been barely reserve grade standard and will miss the 8 entirely as it stands.

Honestly our so called fans in here have embarrassed themselves.

It is really sad.

Why because they are annoyed at our stacked team playing this bad?

Last night we had

Cleary - some say the best in the game
Yeo - the actual best in game
Edwards- Test fullback
Martin - test backrower
Smith and Papalli test players.

How many teams would kill for that core of players?

Yes we have some rookies but that isn't even adding guys like Garner and co that have won comps still playing

We need to win 12 games to make the 8.
We are needing to win 11 from 18, not sure where the 1 win comes from let alone 11.

You summed it up perfectly, 50 tackles in their 20 and we scored off a kick and a mistake

Can't believe anyone is going in on Alamoti. He was our only semi decent outside back tonight. Sin bin was his only blemish but that's just a penalty if the officiating is anywhere approaching sane. He's not slow either.

As with Nathan, he's the least of our problems.
His flop after a good kick and kick chase by Martin. His penalty and sin bin. His inability to finish a try with any resistance at all.

For all the good he does. Bombing tries and giving away penalties are pretty costly to the team. The sad thing is he was shit and was probably our best outside back.

Honestly he should probably shift back to the centres. We need wingers who can finish.

I think the performance of our so called fans on here is far worse than than the performance of our team.

The sense of entitlement is frankly astonishing.

Again we weren’t good enough, I can live with it.

What I can’t quite come to terms with is the bullshit from most on here. It is a disgrace.

Yes. It isn't like you are getting flogged by the elite sides. They are getting towelled up by the bottom sides.
To me the side looks a bit bored The hunger is gone. I reckon it was going last year and they battled for a lot of games during the season. That was masked in the finals where they went up a level.

I reckon if they made finals they'd give it a shake again but I am unsure the players have the mentality to do the 27 rounds to get there.

The backline is lacking speed. The forwards lack punch. Who creates now bar Nathan?
Unsure what's coming thru the system.
Blaize,Mclean need time. But I'd stick with them. They are the future.
Alamoti looked strong to me but still lack experience.
Ivan needs to shake things right up.

Round 1 Edwards Cole Cleary Kenny
2 Edwards (injured) Cole Cleary Kenny
3 Jenkins Cole Cleary (injured) Kenny Blaize
4 Laurie Cole Toelau (injured) Kenny Schneider
5 Laurie Cole Cleary Kenny (injured)
6 Edwards Blaize Cleary Sommerton

Edges
McLean (injured) Garner Tago Alamoti
To’o McLean Tago Alamoti
Alamoti McLean Tago To’o
To’o (injured) Jenkins Tago Alamoti
Jenkins McLean Tago Alamoti
Jenkins McLean Tago Alamoti (sin bin)

No consistency on the edges and in the spine. No genuine time spent with players inside shoulder and outside shoulder.

Edwards
To’o
Tago
Garner
Alamoti
Schneider or Laurie
Cleary

Kenny hk

if they can get 3/4 games in a row with that backline and spine they’ll be right.

Laurie is better attacker than Cole.
Schneider is better defender than Blaize.

Schneider can see the game better than Cole.
Laurie is more elusive than Blaize.

However Cole = Schneider in attack and Blaize = Laurie in defence.

We need to decide quick smart if Blazie is the guy, if he is then he plays the year at 6. If he's not then Brad Schneider into the 6. At least then the young outside backs might have enough structure to learn something.

The year is done time to look towards 2026

We have been almost unbeatable for the past 5 years and I knew that had to come to end at some point but I thought it would be a steady decline over a few seasons. I honestly think we are going to be the first team in history to win 4 comps in a row then get the spoon the following year.

The year isn’t done. We are far too good a team to say that.

We aren’t a top for side this year, we’ve just lost too much experience.

Blaize was fine last night for his first game at 6 for us in our system. He’s clearly been told to run the ball and make your tackles.

Our edge defence on both sides looks horrible, that needs to be fixed, we aren’t now 6 rounds in, so I’ve no idea how they’ll achieve that.

Nathan played well in patches last night, but was poor in others. He needs to recognise we’re we are at as a team and play to that.

Seems the club nailed the timing for the Stadium rebuild

The players should think themselves lucky. If we had a home ground at the moment they would be getting booed off it every half/game.

Instead, fans will just not show up to CommBank.

Brad Schneider only passes after he realises there's nothing on. No back will look good outside of him.

Some of you blokes are more dramatic then my Mrs. Deadset.

There’s no way in hell I watch that game and think Edwards and Alamoti are the issues. They both got a couple of decisions wrong, Edwards kick being the prime example, but both did everything to try and get us back in the game. I must’ve missed the 13 overlaps Edwards butchered, like I missed the 56 tries Mansour butchered that Staines would’ve scored in 2020…

If this is the end of our run, so be it. Throwing the toys out after 4peating is ridiculous to me. Smug it up.

That was very frustrating. Lots of chances, some of them very simple, but could not buy a finish.

Issue with defence is known, we need to keep a stable 1-7 for a time so it can develop.

Winning possession, territory, ruck are the most important things long term and we are still mostly there.

If fixing our defense was a simple as plugging in a good defender at 6 then I'd actually (as much as it pains me to say) be into the idea of Schneider there. He is beyond putrid with the ball though.

As bad as the defence is. The attack was worse. We had so much ball and did nothing with it

We had some ordinary games last year but jagged wins, so it has been coming. Maybe losing at 'home' in front of 5000 people might get the hunger back for next year
